If I remember correctly, the Japanese R2 for My Neighbor Totoro has the Troma/Fox dub of the film. Just be happy that Nausicaa doesn't have the Warriors of the Wind version with it.

I got the Jpn version of Ponyo for the lossless Japanese track. The Jpn release is just a single disc, right? Mine is, but I thought I remembered hearing it was two discs.... just wanted to make sure they didn't dump the HK version off on me.
Is there any key or anything translating its 8,000 different menu options posted anywhere online? Navigating around in it to find the Eng sub option, while keeping Japanese audio selected in lossless, is like working as a WWII codebreaker. Anyway, good to see more Ghibli stuff is getting released. Last edited by Stinky-Dinkins; 03-25-2010 at 02:59 AM. |

press enter when u get to the menu, like most movies (all?) the first button is always 'play'. once the film starts playing press enter (yes they didn't design it w/'menu' button active while film is playing).
recalling my memory, the overlay menu from left to right: home/main menu, scene selection, audio selection, subtitle. i might've mixed up the subtitle & bonus/extras. Quote:
but yes, regarding Nausicaa, that's AWESOME NEWS!!! i'm hoping Disney will do us right by providing lossless Japanese audio and imported subs =). i know a whole bunch of us from here and anime fans everywhere sent in complaints
Blu-Ray is so awesome! =)

A bit off-topic: were the extras in the Japanese version of Ponyo English subtitled?
I am thinking of purchasing all Japanese versions now for all future Ghibli releases (I am a 'huge' Ghibli fan) just so I can own the best version of Ponyo. What is even better is that they offer all the other languages in the Japanese release (hoping they continue with the same language options as Ponyo for all future releases). I am super excited to say the least, absolutely cannot wait for Nausicaa! I will probably buy both the normal and collector's edition when Laputa comes out in Japan.
My full sale / trade / wanted list (Last updated: 04/04/2012)
Top wants: - District 9 Steelbook (CA / DE / UK) - Watchmen Steelbook (CA) - Up Steelbook (CA) - Monsters, Inc. Steelbook (CA / US) - Kill Bill Vol. 2 Blu-ray (CA, w/ lenticular slip) - The Mist Blu-ray (CA, w/ lenticular slip) |

if you're a true collector of Ponyo, this is the best:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Ponyo-on-the-Cli...item4838c3116d but there is no ENG subtitles on disc2 and disc3. only on the film. &import prices will probably be similar for Nausicaa per film in future collections as well. FYI! =P
Blu-Ray is so awesome! =)

![]() Awesome news! And HOLY CRAP at them having the Cantonese dub as well! I grew up on the cantonese dubs of Nausicaa, Totoro, and Laputa so it's definitely a plus for me. |
