PS: Can anyone with the Japanese release of Ponyo confirm whether or not the extras have English subs?

Can anyone translate this amazon Japan page? Doesn't look like they're real thrilled about the release for some reason.
http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/...fenheimthea-22 Ahh nm, got part of it to translate. Looks like they're just upset about the price. For good reason I guess. Last edited by bytor; 04-24-2010 at 04:23 AM. |

You sir have good taste. Actually I bought the dvd of it along with Porco-Rosso. I love both, but Princess Mononoke is such an epic!

Even with discount, this title still costs over 5000 Yens, which is quite high to begin with.

I think it's due to the lack of Japanese titles on Blu-ray in Japan. Have you seen what they have? There was like 150 titles that were Japanese films. I think that's the reason why. All the other Japanese releases are English language films priced much lower at around $20 - $35 USD after conversion.

No, I love it. The minimalist style is kinda reminiscent of Criterions' art work. Personally I think its dumb to avoid a Blu-ray based on the cover art alone. Though if you don't need this immediately you'll save a lot, Japanese release is about $70 and the Disney release will likely cost $20

Does this Japanese release have the Disney dub?
Specs list an English soundtrack. |

The Japanese release of Ponyo had mostly promo fluff but a 52 min documentary on the disc with subs so maybe the crucial stuff will be subbed.

I believe since Walt Disney Home Ent. will be releasing it in Japan, it's probably safe to say, they will include the Disney/PIXAR dub.

The old English Dub was for an edited down version retitled Warriors of the Wind. And supposedly that English Dub didn't have a script.

![]() It may be simple looking, but I like the design and coverart. Just expensive... |

Not loving the disc just slipped into the cardboard. Plus cases like that tend to be fragile. Cover art is ok. Still, it's Nausicaa on blu-ray! I just hope they spend half the money Disney did restoring their classics and Nausicaa will look AMAZING. I really hope they take the time necessary to make it look right.

I recall the Ponyo release came in a clear case, so the boxarts won't match between Ghibli releases? :S
