Your wireless is probably fine - with as many people experiencing this, I'm betting the server that's providing the live content is either bogged down or out. Bad form IMHO.

I'm having the same issue. The disc plays when my blu-ray player is not connected to the interenet. It won't when it is (it happened 1st on my 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle but that broke down due to a different reason and now I'm having this issue with the BD-P3600). I guess it does have something to do with the BD-Live (which stinks because I wanted to register the disc towards my Sony rewards blu-ray club). I tried to find a phone # to contact them but only found a e-mail address: consumer@SPHECustomerSupport.sony.com Let me know if you contact them and what's their reply. I hope I could help.
PS so the only solution I've agreed with (what sfmarine posted) is when you want to watch pineapple express and you're having issues with it not playing, make sure your blu-ray player is not connected to the internet. I'll e-mail Sony pictures and see if they give a a solution to this issue (so I'll be able to play it while my blu-ray player is connected to the interet so I can register the disc). ![]() FWIW, I was trying to watch Rocky II and III on my Sony VAIO laptop and it wouldn't play the damn movies, but immediately took others. Why is firmware so damn important? Ugh... DVDs never had this issue, right? Oh well, I'll take the good over the bad all day w/ BDs. |

It's not the wireless/wired connection. The issue is with the disc's BD-Live. I have the same issue (1st on my ps3 which was the US 80GB MGS4 bundle and now the Samsung BD-p3600) and when I disconnect the internet from the unit, the movie plays.
UPDATE: That link that has contact#'s/e-mail for the movie studios, it doesn't have Sony Pictures listed. Here is the contact e-mail: consumer@SPHECustomerSupport.sony.com Last edited by Wingman1977; 12-18-2009 at 11:01 AM. |

Yeah, disabling the internet connection is the fix. Which is stupid, because this just brings about more evidence that BD-Live should die, and is a wasted feature. Just give me the damn movie w/ HD video and lossless audio. It's sad that a "stupid" (yes, stupid) feature is ruining being able to simply play the movie.
I also wanted to add- Pineapple Express is indeed a great smoking movie, yes! One of the top 5 IMO. It really has a lot of heart, and ingenuity. You're really in for a great adventure so to speak, and the pacing never seems too fast or to slow. It's just a good movie, but nothing absolutely heart-throbbing. It is what it is, and what it is, is an original and relaxed honest film. James Franco's best performance (not debatable). Seth Rogen's best performance IMO (debatable). Danny McBride's best performance (not debatable). "I'm just in here tryin to get a motha$*#in scholarship!" Red is the best.

I've sent Sony pictures this e-mail:
To whom it may concern: I'm having a problem with my Pinapple Express blu-ray. When I put the disc in my blu-ray player (ps3 and Samsung BD-P3600) and the player is connected to the internet, the disc will not go past the puffs of smoke part. It will only play if the player is disconnected. I'm not the only one who is having this issue many people are too: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread....napple+Express http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread....napple+Express http://www.toofishes.net/blog/blu-ra...apple-express/ http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...2191436AAQcYGj Both players have the latest firmware. Is there a issue with the BD-Live? (that's what it appears to be). Please reply to let me know what the exact issue. Thank you for your time. This it the response I received back: If you unplug the internet from the player the movie will play, it's a firmware issue with this specific title not working when it's connected to the internet. If you have further questions feel free to give us an e-mail back. No Duh. I basically stated that in my original e-mail. I asked them if they are going to do anything about it (exchange program, etc). Funny how they dodged that question. I replied asking the same thing. I'll post the reply I get (if they send one).

Here's a new update e-mail I just got from Sony pictures on the issue:
Dear Valued Consumer, We are currently working with Sony Electronics to figure out what the exact issue is so we can issue a firmware upgrade for the Blu-ray players that this disc will not play on. We do not have a estimate when this will be completed. A disc exchange will not be done as it is not a disc issue. We apologize for the inconvenience. I'll post on when they contact me when the solution for the issue has been found.
