The cape does look too big in still photos, but I imagine it has been completely designed to look great as he flies and battle enemies. I do think the costume will work better once the movie has gone through postproduction, it's very easy to alter the color palette. It wouldn't surprise me if they brighten the red a bit in his costume in post.

Well those of us who want a JLA movie soon have to hope it does really well or it will be a major setback. Hoping of course it's an awesome movie but it is rare that I don't like a Snyder film, I think the only one so far is 300. The only one of Nolan's that I've seen and disliked is Insomnia.

If this non Batman film doesn't succeed like Nolan's Batman trilogy then this is the end of Superman films. Mark my words.

That's not really true. The executives at Warner Bros. are aware of the intense interest in Superman and partially blame themselves when a Superman movie fails. The character survived Superman IV. If this movie fails at the box office, I suspect we get a World's Finest movie, teaming up the man of tomorrow with the dark knight.

MoS is make or break. I love Superman.... but I can only handle one more bad movie.

Well, here's my take on the situation now that we've had more exposure to this project...

#1. The suit WITH CAPE certainly shows a hint of promise. The cape makes a huge difference.

#2. The suit WITHOUT CAPE looks horrid and distasteful. It's muted colours, texture, and striping detail destroy the spirit of the character. He looks perma-depressed in it... which makes me fear that's where they are going with the tone of the entire film. And the back of the suit just looks beyond weird (which might not even be an issue if there is always a cape there... CGI???)

#3. This could all change with some damn footage already!!!

#4. B!tching about the suit is pointless anyways if the actor sucks in the role.

I just hope that supes is, well, Super. I think he is overly powerful in the comics, but Superman Returns went much too far in the other direction. Why did the teenagers in Chronicle do more exciting things than Superman did in SR? They need to unleash him, the way Hulk finally was in Avengers.
Currently playing: Ni No Kuni, Halo 4, Borderlands 2

Looking Forward to: Tomb Raider, Bioshock: Infinite, the Last of Us

Good point. Wasn't Reeve's costume usually more of a teal color due to the blue screen, then altered? But, on the same token, that was due to technical limitations and not artistic choice. It'd be cool to see a little more pop.

You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you. They will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

Sometimes his costume was teal (for use in chroma key, as you mentioned). He also had several cape lengths. He had a particularly short cape during portions of his interview with Lois Lane so that he could sit down comfortably.

I don't get it. If Snyder is provided with a great screenplay, he gives us fine movies.

Honestly, as long as Nolan had story input, I'm sure it's fine. But Goyer's solo scripts seem to be hit or miss.

I've only liked (not loved) one of his movies. And it wasn't the grossly overrated Watchmen.
