Hulk took on Sentry. I'm curious what his "powergrid" is.

That's what I was wondering. If so, she would win hands down. But, if not, my money's on Hulk.

That's no real discussion.
Phoenix would win in a number of ways, starting with making Hulk catatonic (telepathy).
The Phoenix Force embodies the essence of Life in the Universe, its powers are on the Universe level (or beyond), wherehas Hulk is at the planetary level (nothing to scoff at, of course).
Just like the Beyonder (itself a near all-powerfull entity) the Phoenix Force can destroy and create at the sub-atomic level.
By its very own nature, Phoenix is on the same level as Death.

The only things above Phoenix powers are The Living Tribunal (Arbiter of all things) and "The One" (rumored to be simply the Marvel Ent. creators).
Most awaited:

The Hobbit - 12/14/12, 12/13/13 & 7/18/14
Oz The Great and Powerful - March 8th 2013
Elysium - August 9th 2013
Pacific Rim - Juy 12th 2013

How powerful is Rachel Summers, I wonder. Never read much about that particular character.

It varies greatly depending on the writter it seems.
A consensus is that her abilities of Telepathy and Telekinesy are as strong as it gets, beyond even The White Queen, Xavier or Jean Grey (her mother).
She is also -like her mother- an Omega-level mutant, making her an acceptable receptacle for the Phoenix Force.

In reality, her mastery of her own abilities is still sub par, and she has been defeated by the White Queen (Emma Frost, herself a very powerful Telepath) in the past as a matter of experience/ trickery (trick often used by Marvel writers to level out the playing field with super powerful entities).

Some writters have described her telekinesy as so powerful that she can control matter on the sub-atomic level (akin to Jean Grey w/ Phoenix, The Beyonder or Molecule Man among others), being able to literally re-organize matter, energy, and disintegrate things just with a thought.

She has been bonded to the Phoenix Force for a time, as well as an Echo of it, but the entity seems to consistantly prefer her mother, and recently finalized (I think) its bonding with the essence of Jean Grey to become the Phoenix of the Crown (White Phoenix), its most powerful (and least human) incarnation yet.

If an avatar of the Phoenix Force is harmed or killed, it will form an "egg" of cosmic power, incubate in the White Hot Room, and hatch out completely healed. Also, as one of the oldest cosmic beings the Phoenix Force possesses a high level of cosmic awareness and prescience.
I think that right there proves that even if somehow Hulk was able to stun or kill Phoenix, she would revive and kill him anyway.

I didn't realize Phoenix was that powerful. I've been out of the comics loop for a while

If we are going by the old comic books then it would be the phoneix for sure, but if it is new comics then i would say as a replacement to phoneix we can have hope summers, and the new hulk is split from bruce so he might be more powerful now.

I'll stick with the likes of Thor and Silver Surfer levels of power
I agree with you both....and I've read comics for over 40 years. When a character is infinitely powerful, what's the point? It's exactly why Superman, no matter who's at the helm, can never be as exciting as, say, Spider-Man.

I hear they have shots for that! But they gotta use an adamantium needle.
So, you don't wear a helmet when you ride a motorcycle? That's simply stupid, and wholly on your part. Wise up, dummy. Death is far too high a price for looking "cool".

Superman couldn't beat the Phoenix either, he is quite powerful but there are limits and some of those limits play right into Phoenix's strengths.

That's usually why characters of that power level aren't around for very long, or can only use the full extent of such power in serious emergencies.

This is like a human (Phoenix) versus a pissed off ant (Hulk). The human would easily win.

The bad thing for the Hulk is there's no way he could ever win, as Agare said as well Phoenix gets bonus points for being hot. I actually have doubts Hulk could beat someone like Big Barda or Super Girl, much less a cosmic entity.

I'm just assuming we aren't trying to dumb down one of them to make it a fair fight. Like me versus Michael Jordan in basketball, while MJ has a broken leg.

Honestly I think even the hero Doomsday would beat the Hulk since he's cybernetic and almost impervious to harm, would definitely be a fun fight to watch.

I thought its been said over and over in hulk shows, books, movies. He has unlimited power and his rage intensifies that so what we have is a stalemate
Because it's easier to have courage from a safe distance away.
