Just got this movie yesterday from DDDhouse!!! Thank you so much DDDHOUSE!!! =D

Review is up!!! Please excuse my English. Overall, it is a must have for action fan. PQ: 4.5 SQ: 5.0

Edit: PQ got knockdown to 4.5 because of Edge Enhancement. Again, it didn't really bother me much, as the details are really extraordinary. Enjoy the movie everyone! I'll definitely watch it again this weekend, maybe after "Avatar". =D

but first, tonight, Jackie Chan's "Little Big Soldier" =D

Glad to hear that kono that both PQ & SQ are top notch. No doubt the action scenes are satisfactory. How about the film ending? Some fans are disappointed that the final showdown between Donnie & Sammo never happen.

Hope my copy will arrive latest by this Friday so I can view it during the weekend.

Read only if you must, =)

[Show spoiler]Indeed, there was no showdown between Donnie & Sammo. However, the fight was awesome between Donnie Yen and the main villian =)

[Show spoiler]was NOT between Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung, but in fact with Kate Tsui, former Miss Hong Kong. A fine actress, but her lack of martial skills is evident, especially with the obvious editing and CG work. In fact, Sammo Hung's talent are wasted as he's like the mastermind villain in a palace getting reports and giving orders.
Vicky Zhao works well with what she's got, in fact she gives the best performance in the movie. Nice appearances from old scoolers like Wu Ma and Chen Kwan Tai - although too brief for the latter.

I'm on the fence about this, if the price were like Little Big Soldier in the $20 range, I'd get it.
Agree with this 100%. I wasn't too impressed with Kate Tsui either. Very disappointed about that sammo vs donnie fight that never happened.

Don't worry you'll get that and more in the upcoming Ip Man 2.

Wow, this was edge enhancement city. The PQ was really, really disappointing.

BTW, does anyone know who played the female member of the Heaven's Eagle Gang?

Screenshots are below. They have been compressed to JPG, but are fully representative of DNR and EE that have been applied to this encode. Also look at the image #9. The interference pattern that you see in the dust is pretty damning for all the artificial tuning.

I have also posted 3 images from above in lossless PNG format who may feel that some artifacts are due to JPG compression.

Horrible disc. I'm hoping that the UK release in July is much better.

Ya, the PQ was a mixed bag. The AQ is excellent though.

The movie itself is awesome! It's an awesome throwback to oldschool wuxia films. Loved it.

Finally I got a chance to watch this...I was preparing for the worse but fortunately agree with Kevtronn. Some scenes are really obvious but some are not so. Overall, it didn't deter my enjoyment for the film.

It's weird... It looked like a recycled DVD transfer from several years ago, yet this is a brand new movie. I'm guessing all the edge enhancement was added to the transfer with the DVD in mind, and they just used the same transfer for the BD. Disappointing. I enjoyed the movie itself, though.
