Which Avatar release are you going to buy? - Blu-ray Forum

Theres plenty threads discussing the merits etc of the Avatar releases due out this year.

I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone plans on buying, so are buying the superbit (steelbook or 'standard') the ultimate, both superbit and ultimate????

To start off, theres a very good chance i'll double dip for both the superbit and ultimates

I have pre-ordered the Superbit Steelbook, because I love the film that much and also because I wanted the free T-shirt from Play.com. But I might double-dip with the ultimate release.

Superbit with free T-Shirt for now, but when the Ultimate edition is released, probably without a steelbook, i'll double dip and just swap the Superbit disc out with the Ultimate disc as I would want to keep the steelbook casing.

I think "barebones" is probably a more accurate description of the April release, but we'll see. At any rate, I'm importing the Amazon UK Steelbook - no interest in the glow in the dark t-shirt from play.com, and I'm not much extra features - hard enough to make the time to watch the movie - so no double dip in November for me. And, although not part of the poll, I have absolutely zero interest in the 3D version, whenever Fox decides there's enough hardware base to make a triple dip worth their while.

I'll get the Superbit standard. Sure, this means that I won't get the steelbook case and 4 art cards, plus the free book that I can buy seperatly, but hey, at least I'll still have the movie.

Steelbook for me on first release, the second release will depend on how much extra footage is in the movie, and the price

None for me. Thought that aside from the visuals it was a very average film and one that I will not watch again in a hurry.

I've heard so many mixed comments about this movie, that I think I'll give it a rental first. If I like it, I'll buy the regualr Superbit version only. I love movies, but I'm not a collector, so the Steelbook Editions or the Ulimate Edition would be wasted on me.

Fair enough waiting though, I'm sure the ultimate edition will have loads.

Seeing how it’ll b just the movie that comes out in April, I’ll get that one when it’s around $15….b/c w/no spec. features, it better be cheaper than the typical blu.

Anyone else find it annoying that they make you buy the DVD and Blu-Ray version? Why not just release the Blu on its own...

When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later, they discovered that I had adsorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No, I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby.
