Well I'm upgrading this week. My buddy is buying my 73" Mits for a grand, and I'm buying the new mits 65" 3D(WD-65638). I wanted to go a little smaller and the price is fantastic. The 3D on the Mitsubishis is fantastic. I should have it by next week. I helped my other friend set up his new 75" Mits a couple of weeks ago and it is fantastic. Anyone who thinks DLP is dead is so wrong. Also the best bang for your buck. Price for my new one is 1,099.00.

HDMI v.4 is required for 1080P 3D. The PS3 will only be capable of 1080i 3D at half-resolution (i.e. 540 X 1920). Therefore HDMI v.3 will suffice. And yes, I believe that Mitsubishi adapter will be required....I'm planning on getting one to go with my Sammy LED DLP.

The PS3 chip through the firmware upgrade is capable of 1.4 hdmi for the detection on processing of a 3D signal. The only thing the PS3 currently cannot do is HD - lossless audio when processing a 3D Blu-ray disc. Last edited by PaulGo; 11-10-2010 at 05:22 PM. |

I'm very close to ordering an 82838 but I just can't pull the trigger yet. I have heard on AVS that supposedly Mits is rumored to be using/or could possibly be using a full HD 1080p 3D chip on next years sets rather than the halved resolution the sets now have with using checkerboard.
You wouldn't like me when I'm angry

I have a four year old 57833 Mits which along with the adapter kit puts out a fantastic 3D picture. The three models in the 833 series were the first "3D Ready" DPLs produced by the company. With the addition of a 3D player I have a great 3D experience without having to upgrade at the moment. Shows how forward-thinking Mitsubishi was even five years ago.

Yep, that's one of the reasons I stick with Mitsubishi. They make a fantastic TV and their prices beat everyone else.

A buddy of mine just experienced 3D for the first time on my set and loved it. He has a wd-57833 which requires an adapter. It is not an upgradable model. I remember seeing them for around $100 before being discontinued, but they are now being gauged like crazy. If anyone on here recently upgraded their set and do not require one of the three adapters 3da-1, 3dc-100s, or 3dc-1000, anymore please let me know. I felt bad telling him it would cost 500 now just to use his 3D feature. It would be nice to turn another over to our side.
