Great new thread erict! Sorry I am late to the party, but this weekend was the usual craziness on my end. In your original post, did you really buy a Plasma in 98, or did you mean 2008? You had mentioned that it didn't last long with the speakerbar, but 11 years is a long time my friend?!

Regardless, you set-up is going to be awesome. I am soo looking forward to your review of the Paradigms with the XPA-3. I listen to Diana Krall again last night at around -10 (relative, I know), but that was the loudest I have ever pushed my speakers, and her voice and the piano blended so well together and were very tight. I triesd to listen for any distortion, and there simply wasn't anything. And my Paradigms are v.3 and v.2....you'll have v.6 and even better Monitors then I do, so I can't imagine how impressed you will be.

I was thinking you should be and "old" pro by now with this HT stuff, if that was the case. Your set-up is going to be one of the best looking and sounding ones around when you get everything up and running.

Thanks for the complement and I wish it was true. There is just too much nicer eye candy on here to compete with and it starts with your setup I envy all the people with there dedicate rooms as you have alot more options then I do. I just try to do the best I can with the space I have in my family room.

I really have only a family room like you...but perhaps I have more free license to do what I want than you do....but that may come in time as the wife enjoys the HT more. My wife was Ok with my old hockey theme, but much more enjoys the new cinematic look of the room....so much so that she has "trusted" me to make good decision in good tatse now without really having to tell her first.

By the way, my wife and I were watching Diana Krall on blu last night (kids were at the in-laws for 2 hours) and she said at one point that it didn't sound loud (but I had it at -18). This may have been the best compliment I have gotten....as the sound was so unbelievably clear and tight at that volume, I don't think she could sense the actual volume level itself.....only the quality of it. So she told me to turn it up , and I had it at around -9 or -10 without telling her, and she still thought I had only turned it up slightly. That is how clean the sound has become, especially at the higher volumes with the new speakers and amp. To me, this demonstarted just the importance of the amp, and how it is not about how loud you can play something, but how incredibly efficient it makes everything run and how seemless it makes the sound become. She wanted it turned up because she really liked what she heard and wanted more of it! (don't we all?!)

Fors, I really liked your original hockey theme. I remember seeing it in my early days here on the site. Now you've evolved into a full-fledged awesome HT.

I can't wait to see Eric get this entertainment stand built. Once you get started on it, how long do you think it will take to complete it?

That's great that your wife enjoys good sound along with you. My wife always seems to say the opposite, turn it down She does like the sound but never really expresses it very much.

Well, I am going to try and start it on Saturday and I will have a better idea of the time line. I have to leave room in there to go a pickup the speakers as well.

Neither has my wife at all until I got the amp and speakers. That is why last night was so "groundbreaking" when she said to turn it up. Slowly, she may be starting to "hear" the sound and appreciate it. If so, I have the speakers and amp to thank for that.....maybe this will be the turning point for you too? Get her favorite musical or something she likes a lot once you get everything set-up, and then play that for her. You might get the same response back.

Yes, I would say so! Of course, all that will accomplish is having 3 more boxes in your way while you're trying to build the thing!

lol...you're missing the point buddy! Speakers aren't supposed to be tucked away in a spare bedroom; they're supposed to be in use in the living room!

Fors*,Congratulations on getting the Great Compliment and having the wife spend time with the HT Cranked and loving it.

My friend,I believe you may want to consider some more Concert Blus.
It could draw her in,until she is ready to say instead of a concert, how about we watch a Movie.
And after that it will be all downhill.

I will say I am Very,Very Happy for you, my Friend.

I'm going to be trying out craigslist here very soon. I've got 2 Technics towers, 2 Bose 301 bookshelves, 1 KLH Center, 1 Sony Center, an Acoustic Research 12" sub, and soon to be a Sony DH800 receiver to sell. I'm going to try to make a package deal out of it to see if I can move it. I'm sure there will be some takers, just might not be for much money. Considering the age of the equipment. I'd be happy if I can get $200 for it all (excluding maybe the Sony DH800 receiver).

Selling stuff is a pain, but that is a ton of stuff you got there. My wife and I will have a yard sale this spring, I plan to unload all of it by then if it doesn't sell before that. But like I said, I really want to sell the Klipsch for something, as I had a taker and he backed out the last minute and now I am even selling them for less.....

The only problem with craigslist is the trash it can bring to your house. Just be careful not to have them come in your house to see what you have. You just never know anymore

Yes, that is a concern. Unfortunately, I would need to be able to have a place with power to fire it up to demonstrate that it works. I could load it all up in my car and take it out to someone's house (so that they don't have to come to mine), but there's no guarantee they would buy it. I've also considered pawn shop, but they would give me even less money for it. It's a hassle in any event, but if I can recover some money for it, it would be worth it. I paid almost $500 for the sub alone 10 years ago. It doesn't compare to the A2-300, but there is nothing wrong with it. It just won't keep up with most blus today. It served me well during the DVD era. I just need to do something with all this stuff, because it is taking up a lot of space in one of my closets.

Yea, I know how stuff can pile up and that's why I always try to sell it to someone I know first. If I don't succeed it just ends up sitting there. I think I need to start using ebay to unload some stuff.
