Call of Duty: Black Ops Is Official, Even Has A Release Date

Thanks to a new area on the CallofDuty.com site, Call of Duty Black Ops has officially been unveiled by Activision and Treyarch.

The current area of the site is barren and all that exists is the game's name and its release date. November 9th 2010 if you're interested.

More details later, but it would seem that the rumours regarding the game taking place through the Cold War, Vietnam and including the storming of the Iranian Embassy in London appear to be correct.

Nahhh! I actually agree with you. I think Treyarch deserves more credit for their epic maps and zombie modes. I think the tanks worked very well in the game as well too. (Not over powered) I thought it was a very well balanced game.

Nothing amazingly innovative..butt I liked it better than i did MW2.

I don't know what game you were playing

but when I played w@w the multiplayer demo I was easily getting 30+ kills with the tanks... It was far too easy if you got ahold of one of those.

I don't think its as bad as I felt like it was, but I'm willing to give this a chance considering the glitchy, crappy perks, and bad gun damage, that mw2 was.

maybe in the beginning, but after people realized how easy/quick it was to destroy em those 30+ days were over

Actually, I took care of tanks with one satchel charge. Anytime I played on a tank map, all I cared about was blowing the tanks up.

And yes, taking out AC130s seems absolutely impossible to me.

hMMmmm ..I can't tell whether or not the setting will be Vietnam. I tried to check out their uniforms because its an obvious tell buttt the screens flash too much causing the color to be distorted. =\

The trailer at Gametrailers was too pixelly for my liking so i watched it at the official CoD website. Going through it frame by frame as best as one can, this looks to feature more epic action in what is probably (for the majority) a Vietnam-based setting. Some of the shots looked very filmic, like they were paying homage to feature film greats like Apocalypse Now and Platoon.

I do hope that the guys at Treyarch (who i respect over the original IW team) try and do something more with the present game engine. Guys, please, ditch the 60 frames per second obsession and use that extra processing power to use some form of post-processing.MW and WaW looked fine for 07/08, but 600p gaming in 2009? Get out of the stone age!

Since the game will feature some tropical hot spots such as Vietnam and Cuba, hopefully we'll get to see some improved water dynamics and effects. Also, such games like God Of War III and Metal Gear Solid 4 tend to run at 60 fps with motion blur, so I think it would be a great idea for Treyarch to include some motion blur in Black Ops.

That's just my prediction on what the engine should be like in the upcoming Call Of Duty title, but that's just me.

Yeah its really hard to see but I certainly don't think they had an aug (one of the frames I swear I saw an AUG) in the 60's-70's lol, so it looks like it might be a future based game but you are carrying out missions in the jungle, nam w/e.

It looks interesting I will give it a chance
