I look to the Director. Chris Columbus doesn't make weak movies. I'll go ahead and give this a blind buy.

The first 2 harry potters were pretty bad, doesn't look like he's stretching himself that much with Percy Jackson either.

The first 2 Harry Potters were the best by far, best direction, best story, and best Dumbledore.

On the main topic though, I went into this never reading the books, and don't care for Greek mythology all to much, but I really enjoyed this movie, one of my favorites this year, no joke.

that's not saying much, since the rest of the harry potter deserves to be in the garbage can.

back on topic, it seems like one of those "clash of titans" "transformers" kind of movie.

if i were you, i'd at least watch it once. but i already made my judgement.

boy are you wrong!!!

i'll be blind buying this, i like movies like this and don't care that it didn't follow the book.

if i want to know what happend in the book, i'll just read it again.

books are always better than their movie counterparts (LOTR aside) anyway.

i enjoyed the movie. nothing spectacular or anything but it was a solid effort. i'll get it eventually, depends on the price and how much i have to spend on a blu-ray i don't NEED

but i say you should rent a movie before you buy them unless you went to the theaters. most movies nowadays aren't worth truly blind buys

Percy Jackson is out on 30th June here in Australia. But that's still 29th June in US. So basically it's coming out on the same day. This time zone stuff is confusing. But I saw the film in cinemas and I really liked it. I get that there were some big changes from the book but it did'nt ruin it for me. There was good acting from the kids in this one too. I didn't find myself wincing once.

I was very surprised by the movie. I didn't expect to enjoy it this much!
I'll buy the French combo as soon as it is release.
And the weird thing is that, even though I've read the book, I prefered the way the story was told in the movie.

I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Not a lot of discussion about this one. Everyone must be focused on Predator.

Blind bought the movie after reading some reviews. Glad I did.... it was a fantastic film.

As one review said, it got more right than the Clash of the Titans remake did in dealing with the themes.

Never read the book, so those who have likely took some issue with the changes. But the film worked.

The film looks fantastic also. Rich colors and deep blacks. Maybe a bit too dark at times. But not AVP2 bad.

The movie follows it fairly close. But drops a couple of characters and changes a few things.

I am used to that with adaptions anymore. Sometimes it's for the best to not adapt shot for shot.

Are the books like Harry Potter in that adults can enjoy them as well? Or are they mainly written just for children?

Well, not having read the books and judging by the film, I would say yes.

i've read all 5 books and would have to say adults can enjoy them but they are written from the point of view of a 12-14 year old.

i enjoyed each book a lot.

Thumbs up

Just watched this and really enjoyed it

Unfortunately I think many people will pass this up due to how poor so many of those "next harry potter" franchise movies have been (eragon, etc), but this is definitely the best since HP itself. Very fun, great characters, setting and creatures.

Too bad it didn't perform well.

I was very surprised when at one point during the movie the characters end up in
[Show spoiler] what can only be described as a heavy drug induced haze
Hilarity ensues. My jaw dropped. I never expected that in a PG movie based on a young teens book!

I also enjoyed the movie. I have not read the books, so maybe that's why.

My copy should be arriving tomorrow. I've read that the disc has pretty good picture quality and a great soundtrack, so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm really on the fence post about this. I've not read the books nor seen the movie but it looks fun.
