Q: How do you log your hours? Does the TV have some sort of memory or just pen and paper??
Honestly, you can make the settings to whatever you want, my cali settings are based on the D6500 method which is based around film accuracy. It's your TV, go nuts!

I don't think this is normal because on the 58B650 display model we have on my show room floor, it is a perfectly even black surface. However, I have had it on both of mine. The first one I sent back to my service department and they looked at me like I was nuts because they couldn't see it. I got my second one and it had the same thing in, even, the same spot. It's tough for me to spot unless it's a pure black, like, logo screen or something. I'm not worried about it because I have a 4 year warranty on my TV...I'm actually TRYING to burn this thing out, lol.

Just enjoy your TV.

I'm really not trying to be argumentative, however, break-in will prevent IR. See, before the phosphorus material in a plasma screen fully hardens, it can take on whatever shape is easiest for it to retain. Logos, for instance, are easy to retain in the early hours of a Samsung or LG plasma because they don't move...they are static...so the phosphorus material in that area will begin to harden in the shape of that logo. Permanent burn in, which I have achieved to a very small degree, is achieved when the phosphor material fully hardens to a shape or area of the screen. My permanent burn in was caused by anamorphic movies before I began using the break-in slides. And yes, aging a panel will help your calibration become more stable, but some say you should still calibrate as many as 5 or 6 times in a year because of the continuous aging of a plasma panel. And please, do enjoy your TV...after all, that's why we're all here making these comments.

Is there a certain amount of time you should leave a plasma on and off? Can leaving it on too long effect it or leaving it off for days or weeks at a time?

Me personally, some days I'll watch an hour, then the next day will be 2 hours and then I could go 3 to 4 days without turning it on because I'm busy and just don't feel like watching tv.

I am not trying to be argumentative either but "Break-In" will NOT prevent IR or burn-in. Don't just take my word for it check out D-nice's break in thread over on AVS Forums which also states "Break-in" will not prevent IR/burn-in. Just used to speed up the hrs on the set to get a pro. Calibration done quicker.

Been installing TV's for a long time. I know plenty of people that did the "Break-in" slides etc and still get slight IR even after 500 - 1000 hrs of use.

Nope, you can leave it off for a month without issue. I had mine off for over 6 months and still works perfect without problems.
