Default War of the Worlds Blu-ray Release

I always see WotW being talked about as reference quality and above reference audio.. So was everyone watching this on a dvd ?

+1, the audio is sick. Unfortunately, I don't have the same opinion of the movie itself

haha, I don't do that. They may be fantastic transfers, but you'll never get me to buy, say, a Pirates of the Caribbean sequel or a Matrix sequel or Transformers or Spider Man 3. I'd much rather have a lackluster transfer of a movie I like. If I'm REALLY curious, then I'll rent them.

sure it does. you can think of it this way. You can feel the audio track is insane, and thatt he picture transfer is beyond the heavens. But as far as the movie story line itself is conernd sucked butt. For me takeTermintor Salvation. AS a movie itself I loved it greeat audio. But story line wise witht the rest of the termintor movies I thought it sucked

Not really, we're what, 4 years into the format? I've seen enough quality discs that I have no interest in picking anything up for A/V quality anymore, I think I've seen it all (or at least 99% of it)

This will be a rental for me.

The Blu-ray video on War Of The Worlds is very good although not what I would call reference. Now here we go with the Audio, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! The Blu-ray audio on this one is utterly breathtaking. Your sound system better be up for the challenge with this one. There is no other way to describe the audio on this one. Very aggressive, thundering, detailed and just plain awesome is all you can say.

The 1953 version just walks past this remake like it wasn't even there for comparison. I couldn't believe how bad the 2005 version was. I really wanted to like 2005.. O well...

Well, Matrix 2 and 3 weren't awesome, they were adequate. The first one set the standard which the other two films did not establish.

I thought that the remake was just as good as the original. Surprisingly the remake was actually closer to H.G. Wells' novel than the original was.

Damn, I think I'm going to have to give this a rental. I've heard many mixed reviews about the movie itself but so far the consensus seems to be that the audio track is incredible. Going to give it a whirl from Blockbuster.

I agree! Love all 3 Matrix films.

WOTW is one of the best audio tracks on blu ray!

It would be nice if Warners would release Matrix: Revolutions on Blu-ray. The single mass market Blu-ray release. What exactly are they waiting for?

I love the original and like the new version. I'd love the new version if it weren't for the spoiled-bratt kids whining at every turn and having nervous breakdowns in the car... that bit of overdramatization really ruined the flow of the film for me. But everything else about the new version was great IMO.
LOSSLESS audio... something that belongs on EVERY Blu-ray Disc. Every one. Warner and Paramount: take a lesson.

If it's not 1.5 screen widths, it's not "Home Theater" -it's TV.

I don't know why everybody is hating on this movie. I actually enjoyed the movie and loved the new "Martians" and the "Martian War Machines". I thought it made the threat more meanancing than the original movie did.
