I don't know how much footage was shot of Owen and Beru but Owen was a real bastard in the early drafts of the script so I'm guessing Luke didn't miss him too much. It'll be interesting to see if any of this finds its way into the deleted scenes section or if they even shot it.

[Show spoiler]
Quote:
28. INT. LAR'S HOMESTEAD - LIVING AREA - LATE AFTERNOON

Luke and his uncle Owen sit before a table covered with steaming bowls of food. AUNT BERU, a plump, gray-haired matron, carries in a pitcher of blue milk. Luke is in a good mood, and gobbles down his food.

LUKE
Well, I'm sure glad we finally bought those extra 'droids.' I'm sending my application to the academy first thing in the morning.

Luke's Uncle Owen has a scowl on his face and appears to be in a very grumpy mood.

OWEN
First thing tomorrow morning you're going to check those condensing units on the south ridge.

LUKE
I will, but I'll have enough time to transmit my application first.

OWEN
You'll check the condensing unit first... and you're not going to bed until those 'droids' are completely cleaned up...

LUKE
But you promised! I've saved enough money and now you have the extra help ... you promised!

OWEN
I said we'd see.
(pauses for a moment)
And as it is, I was forced to borrow your academy savings to buy the new 'droids.' When you've saved it up again, I'll let you go.

LUKE
You used my savings! You stole my savings. If my father were here...

OWEN
Your father's dead. Don't ever forget who's taking care of you, giving you food, giving you shelter, and giving you the allowance in the first place. If you plan to work at the academy the way you work around here, you won't last very long. I don't want another word. Finish your dinner, then finish cleaning those 'droids.'

Luke pushes his half-eaten plate of food aside and rushes out of the room. Owen mechanically finishes his dinner afraid to look at his quietly sympathetic wife.

BERU
Owen, you know it means so much to him. Couldn't you have been a little easier with him?

OWEN
The academy won't treat him any differently. If he's going to become a cadet, he'll have to get used to it.
Then, later:
Quote:
31. INT. LAR'S HOMESTEAD - KITCHEN AREA - NIGHT

Now that night has fallen, the interior of the homestead is filled with a warm glow. Luke rushes in as his Aunt Beru is putting the last of the dinner plates away.

LUKE
Aunt Beru!

BERU
What is is, dear?

Luke is out of breath and takes a few moments to compose himself. A realization crosses his mind and he suddenly seems much calmer.

LUKE
Ahh... I... I'm finished with the droids and I wondered if I could... ahhh... work on my speeder before I turn in...

BERU
I'm sure that would be all right. But not too late, dear.

Luke gives his aunt a big hug. He seems suddenly very sentimental and serious.

LUKE
I love you, Aunt Beru. I really do.

He gives her a little kiss on the cheek and leaves.

BERU
(to herself)
Now what's gotten into that boy?

32. EXT. UTAPAU - LAR'S HOMESTEAD - COURTYARD - MORNING

Morning slowly creeps into the sparse, but sparkling oasis of the open courtyard. The idyll is broken by the yelling of Uncle Owen, his voice echoing throughout the building.

OWEN
Luke! Luke! Where could he be loafing now?

Owen enters the courtyard in a huff, scattering the large gopher-like rodents. He opens the garage and notices the battered old landspeeder is missing.

OWEN
Beru! Come here!

33. INT. LAR'S HOMESTEAD - GARAGE AREA - MORNING

Owen enters the garage and looks around. He picks up a magazine-like video slate sitting propped up on the bench. It generates a soft glow, as if it had been left on "hold." Beru hurries into the garage.

BERU
What is it?

As Owen picks up the video-slate, it turns itself on and Luke's image appears.

LUKE
Aunt Beru, Uncle Owen, I don't mean to hurt you and I know you've been good to me, but I'm leaving. There are important things I must do. I've taken my speeder and the 'droids' which you bought with my savings. I've also taken my father's lightsaber. You can keep everything else. I am grateful for all you've done. I'll miss you, Aunt Beru. I love you both...

The image fades and the old couple stare at one another. Beru's face is filled with a great loss. Finally she turns and leaves the garage, and Owen in disbelief.

OWEN
That boy is going to get himself killed... He's just like his father.

For me its mainly just see to the entire saga in blu-ray but i'm also intersted in some of the special features like the at-at that was shown earlier. Obviously i want to see what deleted scenes are included too.

I heard their supose to have new commentary tracks too which could be interesting as well.
Some of you may know that Harrison and Carrie drank a few before some scenes. I would like to see the footage of them having a good time. I think it would have been hilarious if they went out to some pub in full out Star Wars frocks. Carrie has one too many and chucks over the bar. Harrison picks her up but before leaving the bar he gives the tender a five and says...

Then, later:
Okay. You should have Beru spank Luke, but not too hard. I know how objectionable Luke's scream is to some people around here.

Did you recently watch Burial Ground: Night of Terror, because there is a little mother son action in there.

PQ/AQ. It's as simple as that for me. I really could care less about extras. For any movie I buy, it's always about the movie and only the movie. I never watch the special features. If Lucas could put each movie across two discs and maximize the bitrate, I would be completely up for that. Of course, would the current TV's be up for showing the resolution. I know it was a smart thing for Paramount to split the Ten Commandments. I doubt Star Wars is going to look that good. After seeing the Ten Commandments Blu-ray look absolutely jaw-dropping and basically just about rocking up to the top of my personal list of best PQ discs, the Star Wars Blu-rays(the original three) have a lot cut out for them. Granted I'm not being fair as wasn't the Ten Commandments shot on like 65mm-70mm? Heck the transfer for Braveheart is jaw droppingly good and it's going to be interesting to see how Star Wars(the original three) shape up to that.

Have to agree. PQ/AQ is the most important thing, and yeah, The Ten Commandments was a stellar presentation and I can only pray SW looks half as good as that.

Normally, I would agree with you. My only real concern is the A/V quality, and I usually don't care that much about the extras on most releases, but this is Star Wars! I am really looking forward to the extras on this set, but they do come in a very distant third to the audio and video qualty.

I would agree in this case. I will be watching the extras as this is Star Wars and there's too much fun to be had.

I have requested off from work on the 16th,17th, & 18th. I plan to watch the movies all the way through in this order: I,II,III,IV,V,VI, then I'm going to check out all of the bonus material, then I'll go back and check out some of the coolest shots from all of the movies again. I plan to take my time, and really savor every moment of this whole set. Only 17 more days of me not owning this on blu-ray.

A/V #1 yes but 90 minutes of deleted/extended scenes of which 45 minutes are from the OT. That's nothing to sneeze at. We've been looking at very rough versions of some of this stuff for a long time now. I may spot-check a few scenes from SW first but then I'm going right for the deleted scenes.

It also bothers me knowing that they have the 6-track and mono audio versions saved but aren't including them on this release. Probably because they wouldn't sync up (with all the changes). Why would they have them saved if not for a future release of the OUT...?

Any chance the Complete Saga set will drop any more in price before release?

I would like to point out that unless I missed it, nobody at Lucasfilm or Fox said they fixed the blue color-timing issues in the OT. They said they fixed color issues, but then went on to talk about lightsaber brilliance and white cores. They didn't even mention the color of Vader's saber. It would appear that the decision was made that it was an artistic decision and doesn't need 'fixing'. Prepare for blue ice, pink sabers, and all of the other little quirks that the 2004 versions had. Right now; at this moment; I believe that they are avoiding the issue, because they know there is a handful of fans out there who consider these issues to be a deal-breaker. The Special Edition additions are peppered around the films, usually in small little moments. But the color-timing changes made to the films is on every shot, every frame of the franchise. If that is a change that you dislike, it's very difficult to ignore. I calculate a 13% chance that I am wrong, and that the colors will be more faithful to the versions of the films we have seen from 1977-2003.

We all could, but then we wouldn't know what to argue over on the internet!

As September 16 looms I want to say may the force be with you all. We've had our differences, but in the end if you guys are happy with the release then I'm not going to argue that. I'm just disappointed that the films haven't gotten the true treatment they deserve, UOT or not.

I still have my preorder from B&N ($40 out the door) and am not sure what to do with it. I'm 99.9% sure I'll pass on this release and see what the future holds, but I'm still interested to see how these discs turn out and what people think of them.

For $40 you really can't go wrong. I'm sure you can find enough enjoyment out of the films in whatever form they arrive in, plus all the bonus features to justify the low cost you'll be paying. And if not I can take that set off your hands for that great price!
