Face it, for any slam you can think of on the PT there's one for the OT as well. Let's all stop this bullshit and just accept SW and move on.

By the time the Ewoks were invented, Lucas had already started going down the path of the Dark Side (i.e. quality story-telling taking a backseat to selling play-sets and toys to 7-year-olds, instead of the other way around). No one expected A New Hope to be a megahit, and The Empire Strikes Back was too far along in pre-production to screw it up with new and unnecessary merchandise-focused additions. ROTJ was the first opportunity to truly pander to the kiddies, and it showed.

TPM was the logical extreme of that trend with its 20-minute infomercial / pod race sequence, of which several minutes were dedicated to introducing the starting grid (which would pull double duty as the Pod Racer Pilots Action Figure Set). That really helped the narrative move along...
Forget The Evil Dead; what George Lucas has done to Star Wars since 1997 is truly "The Ultimate Experience in Grueling Terror".

You're being a bit unfair on the pod race, as it did at least serve a purpose in the narrative. And the theatrical version of the starting grid sequence was fairly brisk, it's the home video version which stretched it out interminably.

Asking him to move on is just not possible. After all this time I really feel sorry for him, to be this stuck up over something as unimportant and silly as all this. it's rather sad but it's it's time, he is free to waste it anyway he want's

Hahaha, the Prequels. I like how the debate is still going on, as if they're actually decent movies. I can't imagine a larger waste of time, arguing about such mediocre films....

...anyway...

I don't use my PS3 to watch my BD's anymore but a long while back I got this message. It turned out I had a couple very slight fingerprints on the disc itself, could really only see them while holding the disc under a light. I cleaned the disc surface completely (with a microfiber cloth) and it played fine.

After that - make sure your firmware is completely up to date. Many discs need system firmware updates to play correctly. Manually update it under Settings->System Settings (assuming you're connected to the internet.)

If that doesn't work temporarily disable the internet connection in your PS3 settings, just to see if it's a BD Live issue (I don't think there's a disable BD Live option specifically do that's how you'd have to do it.)

Reading all of this Star Wars hate makes me so sad. I think all six films are absolute quality entertainment. I think Return of the Jedi is the best of the six, along with A New Hope and Revenge of the Sith being the next best. I'm sorry, but the prequels are not bad, just simply flawed. Everyone is too critical of this stuff. George worked so darn hard to give us these prequels and everyones hatred has put a huge damper on the word Star Wars. YOU guys have ruined what is so great. Seriously, I've seen the prequels as many times as I have seen the originals, and I think they're all really fun movies. Same with Indy Jones 4, great great flick.

I'm sorry, but if you like the movies, why care what anyone else thinks of them?

Oh, and because Lucas worked hard on it, he should be impervious to criticism? That's not really how it works. If someone doesn't want to get criticized, he should not make movies and bring them to audiences.
Blu-ray releases should be perfect representations of their cinema counterparts.

Did he? From what I can tell, the prequels read like he never even proof checked the scripts. How can you mistake the Jedi council of existing "for over a thousand years" when in a movie he shot over 20-years earlier, they had existed "for over a thousand generations". Big difference, y'know.

The thousand years refers to that specific Era's Constitution.
The Jedi has served a thousand Generations worth's of Constitutions.

You refer to the Ruusan Reformation, an attempt by expanded universe writers to retcon this discrepancy.

That's actually what I love about Star Wars. For every error in the movies, there's an expanded universe explanation .

And it gets even better when the explanations contradict themselves . Sometimes they are useful and fill in the gaps, but on other occassions..

Why don't you bring up the Kessel Run "in less than 12 parsecs" thing instead

Who cares anyway, and a thousand generations *is* over a thousand years...

It's quite a big gap, though. "I'll see you in a year" isn't quite the same as "I'll see you in a generation" .

Actually he worked too darn hard, by taking complete ownership of the projects. At a minimum he needed to relinquish scriptwriting duties to replicate some of the lighter touches of the OOT.

Close to my feelings, where I'm impressed by everyone having a story. Definitely helps build the world. Highly recommend Shadows of the Empire.

That was good, but nothing beats the first 3 Timothy Zahn books from the early 90's. Those are what resparked my love of SW.
