Anchor Bay (A Starz company) has announced plans to bring the Starz original show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand – The Complete First Season” to Blu-ray Disc on September 21st.

The title is available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon already with a $71.99 price tag.

If you like cheesy acting with a predictable and bad storyline that almost bears no resemblance at all to accuracy, you will like the movie.

Odd that they would only put it in 1080i instead of 1080p. I was over at a friend's apartment yesterday and he played a bit of an episode on his TV in HD from his DVR and it still looked pretty good.

It's a fun series; not really sophisticated, but good semi-trashy TV. It's no Rome, but I eagerly awaited every episode. Looks great on the TV too.

I watched most of these on Netflix streaming and I wasn't that impressed. Not only is there far too much male nudity, but the creators ripped the action scenes right from 300 and Miller's style of graphic novels.

Ah, Spartacus. Remember in Stripes where Sgt Hulka gets "blowed up" and the men have to train themselves? Take that scenario and make it a high school screen writing class where the instructor dies and the kids write a tv show and u have the creation of Spartacus. There is large amounts gratuitous nudity, swearing that seems to bear no context to what people r saying and gallons of digital blood. That having been said, I didnt miss an episode. It similar to the allure of watching a demolition derby.

As to the absurd price of $71.99 for 13 episode. Well, someone should be crucified.

Seen it once on TV and it's enough. It was alright but I can't see mtself buying this on Blu-ray, no wish to see it a second time.

Far too much male nudity? There was only a quarter of the amount of female nudity in the show! And I don't hear you complaining about that!

I for one, happened to enjoy the male nudity, and frankly, don't think there was enough!

I thought it had the "so bad it was good" thing going for it for a few episodes. Its basically "300" with more sex thrown in. Slow motion killing, orgy, more bloodletting, some more sex, more slo mo = a typical Spartacus episode. That's pretty much it. Oh, I forgot, horrible writing and wooden acting!

That's a bit weird - here it says that Spartacus: Blood and Sand Blu-ray is scheduled for realease on 30 May 2010 in UK, which must be a mistake (as it's Sunday and seems too soon anyway) (Amazon UK says 30 May 2011, which is more likely and it's Monday too). It will also be cheaper than the US edition at £37.49 (approx $54).
