Default Wonders of the Solar System September 7th

Quote:
The BBC and Warner Home Video have announced that on September 7th they will release their 2010 documentary, Wonders of the Solar System, on both DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc. The 3-disc DVD set is presented in widescreen video, with English Dolby Surround 5.1 audio, and English subtitles. Cost is $29.98 SRP, according to the BBC, but Warner's info shows $34.98 SRP (we think that the BBC info is probably the correct one). The 2-disc Blu-ray version comes in high-def widescreen, English Dolby Surround 5.1 audio, and English subtitles, for $34.98 SRP. Running time on these will clock in at approximately 300 minutes, and both will include the special features "HORIZON: What on Earth is wrong with gravity?" and "HORIZON: Do you know what time it is?"

Default Amazing Series...

I just received my copy of Wonders and it is indeed a "wonder". Some of the info is incorrect: The American version is in DTS HD Hi-Res 5.1 and the extra Horizon programs (both very good) are in SD. Professor Cox does an excellent job getting across difficult to grasp concepts and his enthusiasm is obvious.

Overall: **** 1/2
Movie: *****
Video: ****
Audio: **** 1/2

As an amateur astronomer I can HIGHLY Recommend this series!!

I finally got this from Netflix and after the first episode, I know I must buy this.
“We're so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody's going to save something now. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? We don't even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven't learned how to care for one another. . . . And, by the way, there's nothing wrong with the planet. The planet is fine. The people are f#@%ed!"- George Carlin

I just checked this out in 3D on my Mitsubishi DLP. Even as someone really into astronomy, I still learned a few things and it looked great. I couldn't see any visual problems with it or ghosting.

Just a bit of trivia; Professor Brian Cox also provided a commentary and advised on the film "Sunshine".

Had to watch Sunshine again and yes, it is a superb commentary. I feel bad for those of you who can't watch the movie due to the bonusview/PIP problem on the PS3.
