Wow! I just noticed this was a combo. Looks like Summit is going to follow Universal's lead.

Except this is a day & date release.

Yeah i thought Blu ray was supposed to replace DVD's so this is an idiotic move. By the idiotic studio Summit. And then its even a NEW release. That is just unacceptable. They should release a seperate blu ray release this will bite them in the ass

It looks like UK will get a separate release

Damn Summit just when i thought you couldn't get more stupid and you pull something like this

The "one-disc Blu/DVD combo" concept is idiotic, yet I am also annoyed by people saying Summit lost a sale because of it. If you loved or are interested in the film, please support it as you would have otherwise. This should be a minor, absurd annoyance, not a game-changing issue.

The Ghost Writer is an amazing film. Atmospheric, intelligent, well-acted. It's definitely finding a home in my collection.
top five films of 2013 (so far) --

1. Trance (Boyle)
2. The Great Gatsby (Luhrmann)
3. The Place Beyond the Pines (Cianfrance)
4. Side Effects (Soderbergh)
5. Spring Breakers (Korine)

I'll probably do what I did with Traffic, which was also a flipper... order a Canadian or UK version that's actually 2 separate discs. Don't need a junky DVD on the backside of my blu-ray.

I agree that this was a good film. It reminded me a little bit of Chinatown. McGregor was solid, my only complaint was that I was Brosnan had more screen-time.

I had seen this theatrically and I was actually was impressed by it. An old fashoin thriller with the proper intensity and suspense, rythmatic editing, and layers of detail. The film isn't revolutionary, but I think Polanski is competitive with our current aging directors such as Clint Eastwood and Sidney Lumet.

Yeah poor Charlotte Lewis. Suspiciously claimed 30 years later that she was sexually assulted by Polanski in 1984, yet starred in his film Pirates which came out in 1986. Hmm.

Nothing like sensational press to jumpstart a has-been career.
