Ate there any bench tests on these models yet? I remember last years non-Elite's not living up to spec in regards to their power ratings....I would hope that Pioneer wold have improved upon these model's amp's performance....

I did see a VSX-30 in BB and it was not working. Kept powering on and off by itself. Hopefully this is the exception not the rule!!

Everyone should take a look at the PDFs on these models. The VSX-30 and VSX-31 are variations of the VSX-1020-K and the VSX-32 and VSX-33 are variations of the VSX-1120-K. The number of HDMIs are less on the lower two, and they paid for THX certification on three. That's pretty much the only difference. Power supplies and output are the same.

The picture in the first post of the VSX-33 looks odd. I think it's either wrong here or it's wrong on Pioneers website.

Suddenly, my 03 looks very antiquated. Jeez, has it really been that long since I've posted in these sections?

Yes, the VSX-33TX Titan listed is a 2003 model!

Is the new one.

Just recently I came across this model VSX-33TX and was wondering if it was the same as VSX-33. That 'TX' threw me off. Thanks for clarifying that it's an older model and has nothing to do w/ this year's release of Elite receivers.

And I'm still against upgrading my receiver until my 03 craps out on me. Heck, with the Emo, do I really have to?

I read that all the new 1.4a models do not support the ethernet channel and 4k resolution, like they are supposed to. I guess a new connector is supposed to be out late this year or next.

At the last minute I tried to get a deal on the 33, but the local dealers wanted list. So, I am going to be testing the competitor. I managed to get like 25% off of list on the competing model.

I'll be re-purposing the c.2002 VSX-45TX to two-channel use for the wife.

I was very interested in checking out one of these models, likely the VSX-33, but now that I've seen Pioneers ridiculous Canadian pricing on these I'll have to look into other options.

Case in point:

VSX-33: US Suggested Price: $1,000.00
VSX-33: CA Suggested Price: $1,599.99

An extra $600? They can keep it.

Im holding out for the Elite VSX-32 over the 1120K for the 12V triggers on the Elite model. This will be perfect for powering up my new Emotiva XPA-3.

Actually you can get the 1020 HERE for $425 shipped. The VSX-30 has two fewer HDMIs and its the same receiver otherwise. They paid for THX certification and slapped an Elite badge on it. If you really prefer the VSX-30 the same site has it for $430 shipped HERE. You won't get the Pioneer warranty however since you have to buy Elites in store at authorized dealers for them to honor it. Of course those dealers will charge $550 as Pioneer suggests.

abt will have the 33 for about $800 US. Or $750 US if they need to charge you sales tax (e.g. IL/IN).. whenever they come in stock.

Thumbs up Good News for those near NY

After doing some searching on the internet, I found that Best Buy has the new Elite Models posted on their website. Apparantly some stores in the US already have them in stock though nearby stores in NYC could only special order them for now.

For those near New York State you may want to check out this website: valueelectronics.com

They are an authorized dealer of all pioneer products and are able to sell the Elite VSX-32 over the phone or in person only. Best of all, they are selling this model at a 20% discount! The only catch is that you must live within a 250 radius to order over the phone as per agreement with Pioneer Elite sales policy.

I will be placing my order tomorrow and should get it by next week according to the gentlemen I spoke to over the phone.

I just may have to go with the VSX-33 as Denon, available inventory, etc. are keeping me without a new AVR. What sucks is the 33 (and those below it) doesn't have 7.1 multichannel analog inputs. For that, one must jump from MSRP 1,000 to $1,600, which is way too much IMO.

And while I am looking for an AVR, its not based on power amplification as I am externalizing that job to my Emotiva amps. BTW, Best Buy would do any better than $1,000 on the Denon AVR-3311CI ($200 off MSRP, compared to the $600 they took off the 3310CI).

Somehow I am not seeing them being all that generous in the discounting and trying to buy remotely has kept me empty handed for 2.5 weeks now. My local boutique Elite dealer is saying mid-August for the 33.
