I thought it would have been much higher to be honest. It is high, but not as bad as it could have been.

Also English subs confirmed: http://haruhi.tv/fanclub/goods_bdbox_haruhi.html

Yeah kind of cheap for a Kadokawa release and a little over 40 episodes included.

Do English subtitles mean there is no plan to ever release this in North America?

Not really. I assume Kadokawa owns the rights to the English subtitle script and also realize it could make some extra money if it adds English subs. I am guessing that Bandai will release its own version somewhere down the line.

oh wow. For a Japanese-released blu-ray, that is a ridiculously reasonable price.

Might have to do that, considering I have no faith in Bandai these days.

It appears the English dub will be included as well:

(Last entry on the page)

Also note that Season 1 is a 1080i upscale and Season 2 is 1080p HD.

Release has been delayed (new date is November 26, 2010).

Source: http://www.animeinblu.com/?p=810

This may prove beneficial to some, as October is filled to the brim with highly-anticipated releases. Plus, of course, it may enable Kadokawa to add more features.

Season 1 is an upscale, and season 2 is not very good from what I've read.

I guess it depends on how big of a fan you are.

Buying this from amazon.co.jp in 2-3 weeks

Just wondering how the episodes are arranged/ordered, as there are pros and cons to either broadcast or chronological...

Thanks! There goes the worry of having to figure out when to swap in what disc, etc.

It's already 2012 and still no word on a North American release from Bandai.

Given the recent changes with Bandai Entertainment, I wouldn't expect one at all, unless they license it to another North American company.

Well there is The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya Blu-ray/DVD combo pack if that counts. As for the 2 seasons, it's hard to say what will happen with them. While Bandai Entertainment America isn't officially dead yet, but their current situation is making it that much harder to release the tv series.
