I'm not sure if this has been asked, but I don't have time to search through 56 pages haha.
I just got Apocalypse Now in the mail today on Blu-Ray. It has the original version and Apocalypse Now Redux...which one is better? I hear that 46 minutes are added and that it's almost a completely different movie. I looked on movie-censorship.com, but what do you guys think is the better version and why? Please let me know asap.

Theatrical. I'm not a fan of Redux. It's too comical and the extra footage slows the pace down. Also, knowing the theatrical version for so many years, Redux moves scenes around in a different order, which bothers me.

I'd start with the more famous theatrical version. There are three major additions to REDUX (more fleshed out Robert Duvall section, meeting back up with the Playboy bunnies and the French plantation scene), two of which I really enjoy, and one (the French plantation) that's played too straight for AN's tone of surreality and which goes on for too long. For me, I'll probably return to REDUX more, but the theatrical version should be everyone's introduction to this classic.

Thanks! I'll get around to watching it most likely tomorrow afternoon. Hope it's as good as I'm hearing it is! My friend has teased me for over a month because he found out I've never seen this. Can't wait to see it.

Never seen AN? I used to have it recorded on VHS from HBO back in the '80s.
I had it the original Redux release on DVD. Looking forward to seeing it on BD in its proper AR.

+1 I was disappointed when I bought REDUX on dvd-- I didn't feel that anything added was worth seeing and it did slow down the film--

btw-- when will this get on a BLACK FRIDAY deal??? I want the deluxe set!

I think the Full Disclosure set is incredible, but it does have some flaws:

1. The case is DVD-sized so it looks out place among other Blu Rays.

2. They shouldve used the Cover Art for from the 2-Disc Blu Ray. The one here is kind of lame.

3. The menu on Disc 2 couldve been better, like having the features devided into catogories (Features, Interviews, Archival Footage) would've helped!

Other than that its absolutely perfect! Up there with Blade Runner and Close Encounters for best Blu Ray

Yep, plus have you guys had a chance to see that deleted scene of what finally happened to Dennis Hopper and Scott Glenn's characters that were cut from the final film?

[Show spoiler]
Shotty and Special Forces knife at close quarters.

Default BD-Live

Apparently, there is now a teaser trailer from the film as part of the BD-Live content downloadable on both versions of APOCALYPSE NOW (which is to say the 2-disc version and the 3-Disc Full Disclosure*) *=ON the 3rd disc... !

Was more intrigued by him than he was motivated to kill him?
"Don't get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right!!"

They didn't really know where kurtz was and Sheen only knew they were getting close once they saw all the dead bodies. Would you get out? Besides, like you say, i think Sheen wanted to just walk right up and meet him like it was no big deal. You know, like he wasn't there to kill him, even though Kurtz saw through that in a second. I also like how Sheen doesn't call in the air strike at the end.

Agreed. Only thing worth a damn on the redux is all the extra barbs we get from Duvall, but in the end, it isn't really necessary. We already know he's crazy, funny, and vain.

I just wanted to add that the first couple minutes of this movie are better than most entire movies. I knew it was still a great movie immediately, since i hadn't seen it in 10 years or so.

Hey, this set is currently going for $29.99 on Amazon.com, I would love to place an order, but there is a problem! With shipping (to the UK) it will come to a little over £23, I can only import a total of £18 into the UK for Blu-rays without getting hit by customs, so annoying!

I want to ask, could somebody order me a copy, when the receive it, all they would have to do it just change the address label to mine and send it off, this way you can place a lower value for the item.

As it's going for $29.99 it qualifies for free shipping in the US. So I will pay the $30 for the Blu (which is what it will cost you) and pay the postage of course, there will be no packing fees as you are using the same packaging.

Amazon are only charging $6.48 for Standard International Shipping, so I will pay for that.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP, as the deal is going quick! (You can order yourself a copy if you have not got one yet).

Will be most appreciated!

Is there a problem with the forum or my yahoo email?

My Panasonic BD35 player is not connected to the internet. During the load process on these discs, I get a message "Network connection failed" after which the menu appears as normal. These are the only BDs in my collection that have this quirk, so I think they must have been encoded in an unusual manner in this respect.

Has anyone else had this message appear?
