Early info was that it was 1080p. Seems the final disc was different.

I ended up ordering it from yesasia, even though it's not in stock.
I tried to order from JSDVD, but their system defeated me. The payment page did not accept my credit card. The card company had no record of any declined charges. It just didn't work. |

It's not only 1080i, it's not even "proper" 1080i -- they just duplicated every fourth frame to convert it from 24fps to 30. It's noticeable on my setup but some others don't see it at all. I guess it depends on your equipment. The Terrorizers and Tropical Fish (both DVD-only) have the same issue.
That problem aside it's a decent transfer, but the neon teal tint from the DVD Beaver caps is definitely there and it kinda bugs me. |

Now I'm confused.
Both "Dan Average" and DVDBeaver claim it's 1080i, but my Sony tells me it's 1080/60p. Am I missing something? I didn't notice any particular stutter because of the frame rate, and thought the restoration of the film was very well done. I have the original DVD of this in the boxed set and the blu-ray absolutely blows it away. Little if any print damage, no jitter, decent subs (even the "making of" is subbed). I did notice the blue-ish tint, but I actually found it pleasing, and more fitting than the yellowish tint on the DVD (see the screen caps on DVDBeaver). Great film, too... though would probably be torture for those weaned on "Transformers" films. |

It's 1080i60, but for all intents and purposes it's really 1080p30. It's like how Antichrist and some other 25p discs are technically 50i, or how you can get a 24p signal from a 60i DVD. If it's outputting as 60p then your player is performing some sort of conversion -- 60p doesn't exist on Blu, but some players support it anyway (apparently for the benefit of displays that don't handle 60i very well). It certainly isn't encoded at 60p.
