That is correct. I only watch English, Telugu and Hindi movies, and I can read, write and speak those three languages.

Let's not get off topic ... would you rather have a Blu-ray with a language you know or have subtitles instead. Its that simple to decide

If subtitles are just as good as the movie itself, then they should have released the movie in theaters with Hindi and Telugu subtitles rather than dubbing/remaking it.
As DaemonAngel said, subtitles for other languages are fine ONLY if the movie was shot for and released only in Tamil

I wouldn't mind if it's in either the Hindi or Tamil language, heck I wouldn't mind if it was in Spanish.. just kidding of course

But other than Telugu.. I don't care if it's Hindi or Tamil, I'm fine with either one

Also, it would be nice if they could add an additional blu-ray disc with the 'making' in HD. Hopefully, Enthiran will create a benchmark/standard for Indian blu-rays!

Oh really? And, that doesnt sound selfish or discriminatory to you? Maybe you didnt read that we were speaking what would serve the wider audience not just what "I" want

I was just purposely adding fuel to the fire

But, yes, I'm all for the 'serve the wider audience'. Hopefully, they will release it on all three languages.. and everyone will be satisfied

Exactly...this topic reminds me of Americans who wouldn't watch anything outside of Hollywood.

If you love cinema, I don't understand why someone would only watch cinema from their native country.

It's like saying, "I love food and fine cuisine" but only food from my native country. I think it's just closed-minded and depressing...

I would prefer to have a blu-ray with a language I don't know with English subtitles (as you can tell from my blu-ray collection).

I wasnt going to reply and continue this off topic debate but your repeated use of the word "depressing" is really annoying. How can something so trivial and entertaining be "depressing"?? Makes it sound like anything outside of your preference is depressing to you?

Its upto each individual to watch what they prefer and enjoy - why do you need to turn a pleasant movie experience into "depressing" and label it "close minded" !?

Sure...but someone is missing out on a whole slew of great films with English subtitles!

Ditto. On the other hand, having someone dub over an actor's performance compromises said performance.

That said, if Rajnikanth had dubbed it himself (which apparently wasn't the case this time around) and likewise the other actors, that'd be another story.

Then again, if done well, it shouldn't really matter. I was ready to hate the fact that they dubbed over Shriya Saran in the Tamil release of Sivaji but it never took me out of the movie.

In any case, in my ideal world I'd watch none of my movies dubbed. Of course, in said ideal world I'd understand and speak fluently all languages. Subtitles are a compromise (because as the subtitle haters have stated these too compromise the intent of the film) I'm willing to live with. I'll only deal with dubs if there's no other choice.

But just because the tastes of others differ (they prefering dubs over subs) doesn't mean they're watching films wrong. They're just using their prefered compromise to maximize their enjoyment of a given movie.

I suspect that "English" = "Tamil" and the track is only named English by default. Yes?

I believe he is referring to "English DTS" - what he meant was "its not english dubbed audio, right?"

What are we talking about here - an official DVD or a bootleg DVD ?

Let me paraphrase the confusion with a clear question: does this DVD have anamorphic video, English subtitles, and Tamil DTS audio?

Not English dubbed DTS audio. Its Tamil DTS & Dolby Digital.

And to everyone, this is not bootleg DVD, its an Official Lotus Fivestar DVD.

I know the fact that its going out of track at the moment since we do not have the blu-ray authoring news yet.

At least this is for time being.

LOL you were going to be upset that another dubbing artist was going to dub for shreya's dubbing artist???? FYI - Shreya doesn't know tamil, she uses a dubbing artist for tamil movies.
