Not from Ayngaran, nor AP International.

Relationship with Sun is still on the rocky side.

Not sure who else would be intrested. I'm sure someone will record the 1080 transmission and will upload it online. This might be the only method of seeing the original Tamil version in HD.

Question

Is HD content broadcast in India at 1080i50 with high pitched audio similar to PAL DVDs?

Sun deserves for this to happen, after sitting on this Blu-Ray for all this time.

BBC HD uses 1080i50 format and there are no high pitch issues. So if Sun are transcoding and processing the HD transport stream file correctly it shouldn't be an issue.

BBC also uses 1080i50 for many of their BD releases. I have Sherlock Season One and It certainly doesn't have any noticeable audio issues.

Wow ... I can't believe that the Tamil Blu-ray for this movie still did not release

I wonder if the actual actors for any movie ever care about their movie not being released on superior home video product such as Blu-ray.
I am sure one word from Rajinikanth asking for a Blu-ray will get him one and most likely released in the market

Japan Japanese edition is coming

Hi fellow Indian movie lovers.

The Japanese edition of Robot DVD/Blu-ray is coming out on October 3rd.

According to the film distribution company here, DVD contains Japanese version, while Blu-ray deluxe package (2disc) contains both Japanese version and complete version.

Here's the difference between Japanese version and complete version. It these
are the same as movie releases.

Japanese version is based on Hindi version. But It's heavily edited, approximately 40 minutes. For instance, Kadhal Anukkal, Boom Boom Robo Da, Kilimanjaro are completely gone, while Irumbile Oru Idhaiyam and Arima Arima are cut in half. Those editing were made for Japanese movie theaters could screen the show as many as they can.

Complete version is based on Tamil version. It's exact same and no editing has be done. Oh, there's one, "the intermission" moment mignt no be there.
because there isn't in the theatrical release.

There are no Japanese dub version on theatrical release. And I'm not sure if
those DVD/Blur-ray releases have one. But I'm 100 percent sure that there will be Hindi and Tamil languages for respective home releases.

Blu-ray deluxe package contains slip case, sticker, booklet as well.

Doubt this will come with English subs. If it does - awesome

Just hope they encode from the DPX 4k file...and not the negative.

Japan is region A so you would be able to watch it regardless.

There's a development on this home release.

The film distribution company added a little more about the audio contained in the blu-ray version.

It says in Japanese;

Quote:
ヒンディー語 DTS HDMaster Audio 5.1ch (メイキング:英語、タミル語Dolby Digital 2.0ch モノラル)
which means the movie itself is Hindi DTS HD MasterAudio and "making of" footage is in English and Tamil DD 2.0 Mono.

If this is true, it's very sad. The theatrical release of complete version was indeed in tamil while the edited version was in hindi. Perhaps Sun Pictures was reluctant to sell the home release rights of tamil version in HD quality? From what I'm understanding, they haven't done to anyone.

I'll post on this issue as soon as it develop. The Japanese film company said they'll announce more detail on July 20th.

It seems like there won't be Japanese audio in this disc. See my previous post regarding tamil.

I'm also doubtful about English subtitles.
At lease we can hope that the picture quality is that good.
But it seems like the Japanese company didn't hire you for this...

Anyway I'll post more on this as soon as it develops.

There are two things, good thing and bad thing.
Good thing is this title provides English subtitle.
Bad thing is the source comes from Hindi, I guess...
Picture quality and sound both are too weak.

The Japanese trailer featured Hindi audio, so it makes sense that the Japanese Blu-Ray has it too. They played the Hindi dub at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin and the Dallas International Film Festival last year. Why they are sending that version out instead of the Tamil version, I have no idea.

Couldn't we all email the Japanese company to petition for the Original version to contain Tamil audio with eng subs?
