Can someone tell me why Toy Story 3 has two versions of blu ray editions?

thanks!
The reasons everyone else has said, plus TS3 is a new movie, the others were catalog releases which many people may already own, and so therefore they are counting in TS3 to sell a lot more, so they are putting more money into producing different versions.

I have not seen this type of incendiary comment since the HD-DVD/BD war!
Without Blu-ray, your HDTV is just a TV.

How to Train Your Dragon was better than most everything else among DreamWorks' accomplishments and better than Pixar's Cars, but still wasn't quite what the best of Pixar has to offer. I think Toy Story 3 is a little better.

Don't forget The Prince of Egypt. Still Dreamworks best animated movie. How to Train Your Dragon is a close second.

Id personally rank How to Train your Dragon as better then Cars, A Bug's Life, and Walle. But Toy Story 3 was Pixar's best and in my opinion the finest animated movie of all time. Toy Story 3 had a more original plot, slightly better animation, a better villian, and a stronger emotional core then How to Train Your Dragon did. Both movies were equally great in terms of fantastic 3D animated action.

I said "most everything." I think Price of Egypt is about on the same level as Dragon.

I think Toy Story 3 ranks about in the middle of Pixar's work. It's a harrowing end to the series and calls to mind Pinocchio (the best animated film in my opinion) for putting its characters in such peril. But I really don't think it had what you call "a more original plot". It was a little repetitive of the second. I still give it an 8.5/10, and I would give Dragon an 8/10.

HTTYD was good but not better than TS3 IMO. Both are great movies though and I'm looking forward to both on blu!

I don't see how it was repetitive of the second. Yes it continued on some of the same themes but I think this brilliantly makes Toy Story 2 the second part of a trilogy and makes it seem like the first two movies are building up towards Toy Story 3. Not to mention I don't think many animated movies have done prison break stories. How to Train Your Dragons formula of a kid finding a certain pet, not telling his parents, until the end everyone can learn to accept the pet somehow has been done many times (The Iron Giant, E.T). Not that theres anything wrong with that formula but Toy Story 3 felt more original in my opinion.

SPOILER - The teddy bear character was a lot like the miner toy from Toy Story 2. His true intentions were kind of predictable. And having a delusional Buzz for the third time was not original, even if he was speaking Spanish. - END OF SPOILER

Lotso and the Prospecter have similarities but are also very different villians. Prospecter is motivated by a misguided need to find a better life believing that life in the muesum is his last chance for happiness. This makes him more sympathic then Lotso who is driven clearly by self hating depression and a sociopathic need to put his own pain on others. This makes them very different villians.

Spanish Buzz was really funny. Deluted Buzz is just great comic relief face it.

Only "DVD" was listed for this, but more than likely it wont matter as i'm sure this offer will be good towards the Blu-Ray version as well. my guess is it's a promo storage box to house the Toy Story 3 4-disc combo pack Blu-Ray, or maybe even all three of the Toy Story DVD's/Blu-Ray's, maybe a Steel or Iron one. at least i hope. either way looking good so far .
