USA The Boys from Brazil (1978) from Shout Factory

Release date: January 6

Quote:
History has shown how one man with a dream can turn the world into a nightmare — can history repeat itself?

Elderly Nazi hunter Ezra Lieberman has made a life of seeking out the last remnants of the Third Reich. But when he investigates a lead about a mysterious plot to assassinate ninety-four seemingly unconnected men from around the world, he makes a terrifying discovery that has dire consequences for the fate of the human race. Lieberman’s desperate quest to stop the unthinkable launches him on a collision course with the sinister figure behind the plot: the infamous Dr. Josef Mengele.

Laurence Olivier, Gregory Peck and James Mason star in this Academy Award®-nominated* thriller from the director of 1968’s Planet of the Apes and based on the novel by Ira Levin, the author of Rosemary’s Baby. The Boys From Brazil: If they survive… will we?

*1978: Best Actor in a Leading Role (Olivier), Best Editing, Best Original Score.

This is great news! I've had The Boys From Bazil in my Amazon UK shopping cart for ages but never pulled the trigger. I will certainly pick up Shout's release.

I am excited about all of the titles above, mostly the highlighted ones. Capricorn One is a great flick.

I was hoping they'd get this one but wasn't sure as to the extent of what they could get given The Boys from Brazil was put out on DVD by LionsGate. Glad to hear this and can't wait to see how it turns out given the US DVD is non-anamorphic.

Just watched it on my Region A Oppo & played fine. So must be region free despite the Amazon UK stating it is "B." Have not seen in decades. Dated but, still a good film.

Yep, the UK release is region-free and very well done. Got tired of waiting for this and Ladyhawke and imported them a couple of months back. Fine films, the both of them.

YES!

This is one of my all-time faves! Gregory Peck . . . Laurence Olivier . . . Nazis . . . Cloning . . . and a dead Steve Guttenberg. This is the happiest I have been about a non-Godzilla catalog title in years.

Olivier was nominated for an Oscar for playing a Nazi hunter, two years after he was nominated for playing a Nazi fugitive. Versatility.

The same thing happened to Ian McKellen...played a Nazi Death Camp commandant in Apt Pupil, and two years later played a Jewish victim of the Nazi Death Camps in X-Men.
