I sucked it up and bought Avatar 3D off of eBay. Watched it over the weekend and it was totally drool-worthy! Wow, it looks absolutely amazing! I thought it looked really good at the theater, but it looks even better at home. The detail is just incredible and the 3D is so nicely used. I particularly like all the canopy reflections on the walkers and the aircraft while also seeing the pilots beyond the glass, it gives a great sense of depth. The 3D in the flying scenes and some of the scenes where they're traversing the trees on foot is enough to make you catch your breath. I love it! I waited many months for the price to come down and it barely has, but I definitely do not regret paying a premium for it.

Not trying to break any rules or anything, but what's stopping a random consumer from purchasing the blu ray player eligible to receive the copy of Avatar 3D, and returning the blu ray player after it is received?...

What promotion required a UPC?

Avatar requires the UPC code and serial number cut from the product carton, this was taken right from the rebate form in the box, so how do you return a box with this removed, don't the stores scan this when buying and returning?

Not sure about how the others work, I just know Avatar, I have already received my first copy, I am waiting on my other 3, and yes, I bought 2, and my in laws bought 2.

If you return a product that is not damaged, they will turn around and resell it. The new buyer will no doubt want that same premium as you, but if you've already redeemed it then they will not be able to (since it's based on the serial number). I imagine if they complained about it to the store or manufacturer they'd eventually get the premium, but I'm sure it would be a real hassle for them. My attitude about this kind of stuff is the little bit of saved money isn't worth the grief it may cause me or someone else. Not to mention that it may be illegal, or at a minimum immoral.

It really sucks for us that do not own a panasonic tv that we can't see this now. We have to wait to 2012. Do anyone know when in 2012 it will reach all retail stores?

I may be wrong but I believe the exclusivity ends in February.

It's expensive but there are lots of copies floating around online. I got very lucky and found someone local with a couple of the "sets". He gave me the box with 2 pairs of glasses, Avatar 3D, and Ice Age 3D (from a different set) for $120. I ended up turning around and selling the glass for $180 on eBay and kept the two blus.

My mail-in copy showed up today. Took about 3 weeks total to get it. I can't wait to watch it in 2012 when I get a 3D tv.

I got this and two extra pairs of 3D glasses free with the VT30 promotion Panasonic just ran. Much better on the VT30 than seeing it in the theater. REALLY awesome here.

You are required to send the receipt and cut out the UPC code.
