Hopefully this will sell well enough to get some Godzilla blu's in America. It's cheap too $13.49.

The only thing I can see holding back this releases full potential is Mill Creek.

well being on Mill Creek is downright scary, but it may have potential.
I would love to see more public domain stuff come to blu-ray if they have decent prints.
That's mainly the stuff Mill Creek deal with from what I have seen.
I have a 4 disc set of like 25 or so really early John Wayne films on Mill Creek, and actually they don't look THAT bad.

Licenses were rescued from the former ADV Films, and ADV deserves better than Mill Creek.

(But at least Shout Factory's got the vintage Gameras.)

Like I said Mill Creek will hold this back but I'm willing to give this a chance since I got this when it was $2 cheaper.

Are these the first two Gamera films? I've never seen the original Gamera, but I do like giant stompy monster movies. (just found out today that DEATH KAPPA is coming to Blu!)

They're the first two 90's Gamera remakes, and head and shoulders above our 90's Godzilla.
(Although a slight notch below the better of Japan's 90's Godzilla remakes, although both have that tech-polished attempt to live up to American movies.)

I still haven't seen Revenge of Iris. I just hope it's a BD-50 disc. Cover art looks ok. Nice to see the rights go to someone as soon as ADV died out.

It seems odd that they would include the first two but not the third one, unless they also licensed 'Gamera the Brave' and plan on packing that with 3.

Nope. Media Blasters/Tokyo Shock got that. Also, Gamera: The Brave doesn't have a Blu-ray release in Japan either.

The Mill Creek facebook page said Japanese 5.1 DTS-HD, Japanese 5.1 Dolby Digital, and English 5.1 Dolby Digital.

I pre-ordered it, along with the DEATH KAPPA BD(which will hopefully be released soon).

Hoping for some Giant Monster madness in glorious high definition next month!

Yeah, I had screen capped the cover image from that Press Release and had it used for the Blu-ray page on here. The title fonts are different on that press release than what's on Amazon. That Press Release uses the old Sandy Frank title for "Gamera" and use the Shout! title design for the two titles for the films.

This is one of the HEISEI series.
This series began with Gamera: Guardian of the Universe.

Gamera made his first appearance in 1965's In the SHOWA era series, Gamera was a titanic, fire-breathing prehistoric species of tortoise who fed on flames, reawakened by an accidental atomic blast in the Arctic during an aerial assault by US fighters on Soviet bombers caught crossing into North American airspace.

In the Heisei era series, however, the origin of Gamera was tweaked to make the theme much more directly heroic: a bio-engineered Guardian of the Universe created by Atlantis with the purpose of defeating Gyaos, another ancient creation capable of killing all human life.

Gamera's continuity was rebooted again in the only film of the MILLENNIUM era (GAMERA THE BRAVE)

If you are interested in those first Gamera films, Shout! Factory has just released:
GAMERA VS. GYAOS (1967)/GAMERA VS. VIRAS (1968)
GAMERA VS.GUIRON (1969)/GAMERA VS. JIGER (1970)
GAMERA VS. BARUGON (1966)
GAMERA, THE GIANT MONSTER
These films (on dvd) have been totally restored and their 2.35:1 anamorphic color image is impeccably clean and transferred from an all new high definition master created by vault elements. These films look and sound amazing (I have all of them) especially after having suffered through horrible, cropped versions for years on TV etc. Just some info from a guy who grew up watching, as a horror host in Cleveland called him, the "turtle with the rockets in his pockets".

I'm really wanting to order this, but you guys have me worried about it being a quality release. What all has Mill Creek done wrong?

I'm a huge Godzilla fan (Toho), but the only Gamera's I've seen were the Showa ones. I've heard that these are really good though, may have to pull the trigger regardless.

These are some of the best monster movies ever. Buy this regardless of PQ and Try to find the 3rd, Because its the best.

Thanks, I think I'll be picking them up for sure now. Has anyone heard if this will be carried in store @ BB? I'd prefer to pick it up there if it breaks down to paying the same for shipping from Amazon.
