Can't wait to see what they do with this movie as it being their first fairy tale/first movie with a lead female character. Knowing pixar though this movie will be fantastic.

You had me at Pixar. Sounds like it could be terrific, and I am sure it will be.
If I go missing for a time, fear not, I am traveling with The Doctor. The 11th Doctor, Matt Smith.

Nope, at the top of the B&E are the faces of Merida and her mother Oueen Elinor. It was recently revealed on one of the animator's twitter. I'm a pixar nerd.

Oh right I see it now, good call. Hope this will be a lot better than it sounds, back to back disappointments from Pixar(this and TS3) would not sit well with me at all.

TS3 was very far from a disappointment, however with Cars 2 coming out next year and Brave not out until 2012 you can bank on not having TS3 & Brave giving you back to back disappointments (unless you skip Cars 2).

In fact, if we can believe BoxOfficeMojo, TS3 is not only Disney/Pixar's second billion-dollar movie so far this year, but is officially beating out both IM2 and Alice & the Chocolate Factory as "Most Popular Movie of 2010 (So Far)", and by a not unconsiderable lead.

...Don'tcha love it when EVERY SINGLE upcoming Pixar movie is "their first flop/disappointment" based on two sentences of information, up to a month before they open?

(Me, I'm just curious to see what the Prince of Egypt directress will come up with, now that she joined up with the "good guys" like Brad Bird did.)

Agreed on most points, but WB could hardly be considered anything but good guys for letting Brad make Iron Giant.

Toy Story 3 a disapointment has got to be the most confusing thing I ever read in my life, far from a disapointment, more like a overachiever.

Well there's always one person who has a different view to everyone else and they're always the ones who niggle away at you because you find it hard to believe that one could have such a different view to everyone else.

But I have to agree, I'd say it's a crime to think Toy Story 3 is a dissapointment or bad. And I think it deserves to take Best Picture at the Oscars this year. Yes, even above Inception.
Ask me any question about Doctor Who and I'll know the answer.

I couldn't agree with you anymore. Toy story 3 is by far the best movie this year so far to me. But the Oscars will never let a animation movie win even though it deserves it.

A bit naive, friend--They'll keep plugging away at Operation: Pixar Best Picture until they AVENGE Toy Story 2....And TS3 has the best symbolic chance of doing it.

(Last year, it was all set "Up", but unfortunately the other crusade to defend "Hurt Locker" barged in at the last minute and stole all the noble voter good-intentions...
Fortunately, there's not as much competition this year, so NOTHING'S GOING TO STOP 'EM!!! )

Pixar and Disney have previously carried out similar shake-ups when things weren't heading in the right direction for a film, most notably when Jan Pinkava was pushed aside as director of Ratatouille in favour of Brad Bird.
However, this would be quite a shocking turn of events. Chapman has long been touted as "Pixar's first female director" who would bring a woman's perspective to Brave, which she wrote, and which features Pixar's first female protagonist. It would be a stunning change, and I'd love to hear what the studio would have to say about it.
Most likely it would be about the tone of the movie:
Pinkava's "Ratatouille" was going to be more jazz-stylistic, have Chef Skinner as the chief villain of the piece, and the whole sentimental Anton Ego subplot/ending barely even existed in the original boards.
Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" before Lasseter took over didn't even have the climactic "world-domination" plot or much of the "family" ending, and Lasseter's first overseeing idea had been to remove the Bowler Hat character from the story completely.
And I don't think we have to mention what "American Dog" looked like before "Bolt".

I'm guessing that Chapman may have taken her own buzz of the "female perspective" idea TO MUCH too heart and skewed the story in less cross-audience directions, whereas Pixar was hoping for more of a universal style that she'd brought to Prince of Egypt.
You don't get in trouble at Pixar without earning it.
