That's it. Seems to be a secret release like so many.

Shock's DVD release was uninspiring and had none of the original Warner Region 1 extras -in fact it had nothing. I'm not expecting anything different as Shock seem to have access to MGM property and the legal rights to Barfly are not entirely clear (hence no USA DVD at the moment). The recent German release SE was an improvement as it has the Charles Bukowski Tapes (unsure if it's the full version, listed 240mins @ IMDB but only 120 in Germany) on Shock's and maybe they can access those materials as they seem to be outwith Warner's control.

Love the film.

Looks like the sound will be 2.0 according to Shock, not sure where the True HD 5.1 came from on Fetch?, and no extras listed. The running time is down as 97 minutes.

Yes, I sold my region 1 DVD copy about 5 years ago for $90...there's still a part of me that regrets selling it, but $90 was just too good to pass up! Plus, I'd seen the film about 8 or 9 times by that point, and had watched all the bonus features a couple of times as well.

This is such an excellent film, with superb performances across the board, and I still feel it's Rourke's best. I do hope this comes to 'region A' soon, as I'd like to watch it again.

Sold one US$60 and kept the other. There's a few extras on it that may never appear elsewhere due to legal problems (just like the film has in some territories including North America).

that's cool , wish I'd had 2 as well, but I could only afford one when I bought it. I think I paid about $18-$20 when I initially purchased it at Tower Records...but that was a long time ago...

Barfly's available in loads of countries (Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany (2 versions), Brazil etc etc on DVD. It's nice we're getting a Blu-ray though.

Still nothing on Shock's website which is a real shame.

Nobody care? The distributor doesn't seem to care. Absolutely no ****ing information. How on earth can we support these companies with our money.

Lots of sites say lots of things but I don't see any good sources or "In stock ready to ship".

The only DVD/Blu-ray fact (especially with Australian releases) is when you have it in your hand.

JB just lists it like that when they don't have an item in stock but are prepared to get it from the distributor. I had to do that for the Cube/Cypher double pack as they did not order any for in-store sale. In the case of Cube/Cypher it just meant that once I placed my order they order from the distributor and then ship when it's received. For me, that process took 7 days. A similar thing would most likely occur if you ordered from them now.

Unfortunately what that means though is that it may not be in store to check it out. I will have a look when I go there next though and let you know if I see it.
