Christmas Classics Gift Set - Blu-ray Forum

- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
- Santa Claus is Comin' to Town
- Frosty the Snowman
- Frosty Returns

Anybody getting this? I'm super tempted but I'd like to know how good the quality is first. Also, does anyone know if there are any special features?

I don't know any specifics about it but I'm definitely getting it. Can't wait to see Rudolph in HD.

I'm interested. It's a shame there were no in store deals (or even advertisements) for this collection or the Peanuts. Is Walmart's online price of $29.99 the best for this one?

Are there Black Bars on each side of the picture with this release ? Or is it full screen......

99.9% sure these will be pillarboxed... i.e. black bars, i.e. fullscreen... these were released originally in 1.33:1 aspect ratio so they should have pillars

There should black bars on the sides since it was filmed at about 1.33:1 / 1.37:1 approx.FullFrame This is the original aspect ratio for these titles.

I'm fine with the Frosty DVD I have. I'll keep the Rudolph DVD still though, for the features.

Picked up the Peanuts Holiday Collection last week from my Amazon Goldbox and got this from my Goldbox this week! Keep the Holiday Classic coming... I want to see The Grinch go down in price from last year... too expensive at like $24

Isn't black bars on side known as full screen? or is full screen defined differently for HD televisions?

Most likely it will go down in price. The Great Pumpkin and Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is already at $15 a piece at Walmart. So hopefully we'll see the Grinch at that price as well.

I believe full screen does, Atreyu. Threefiftyrocket probably was wondering if it spanned across the entire screen, as in it takes up the full screen.

On topic: My set actually arrived about 30 minutes ago.

Man that sucks. I hate the black lines on the side. Oh well unless I can get pass the black lines I wont be getting any of those cartoon releases that I want including Peanuts. That sucks. Got Em!!

Would you rather they compromise the original presentation of the film and make it 16:9 cropping the image considerably? ITV in UK did this to the THUNDERBIRDS tv series and the ratings were awful because of this.. and so were/ are sales. I wish someone could teach a class on this. I don't have the patience.

People complained when DVD first appeared.. why are those black bars there? and they didn't get it now we have bigger TVs and people still complain. Stick to VHS is the only advice I can give.

I just got my order in from Amazon today. I have to work in a little bit, but if I have time I'll pop in each disc and let everyone know how it looks (unless someone beats me to it) since I'm not sure how to post HD pictures

Nonetheless though, I like the packaging how it's 3 separate cases instead of a foldout box.
