Nice. This isn't really high on my list but it's always great to see release dates for high quality though lesser known catalog films.

Psycho and North by Northwest are all well and good but I want Rope and Shadow of a Doubt too.

from the bits... Lionsgate's Apocalypse Now Blu-ray includes a teaser trailer for Oliver Stone's The Doors "coming soon to DVD and Blu-ray." Better still, it also confirms that Lionsgate and American Zoetrope are working on a Blu-ray release of Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation for release in 2011

People may not agree with me but this is my all time favorite Coppola film. The cast features Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Cindy Williams, Harrison Ford and Teri Garr. The score from David Shire is one of my all times favorites.

I would expect this release of THE CONVERSATION to be top notch. I hope there are lots more extras for the release on Blu.
great film!

great news!
we need more directors to get involved with getting their catalogs released on blu-ray.
and more estates, like say the John Wayne or Elvis Presley estates as an example.
the estates might be able to provide needed momentum for bd releases by providing needed funding for restorations perhaps.

Indeed, very good news, as the SDVD release is rather problematic.

How tragic. You must've thought it was gonna be the next Godfather or Apocalypse Now.

I'll agree with you. Not taking anything away from Apocalypse or The Godfather... but The Conversation is my fave.

This is fantastic news.

Fantastic news, this is a great movie, and possibly the one of Mr. Coppola's films that I enjoy the most.

EDIT: I hope that Lionsgate devises a couple news extra for this. I'd love to hear Gene Hackman's thoughts on the film as this is one of his more interesting performances, and easily one of his five best.

Well, I was only 7 years old. Kids go to kiddie movies. I didn't even realize that Coppola had directed it until years later.

One of the handful of movies with John Cazale, a great actor who died way too young. Most of you know him as Fredo from the Godfather and Sal from Dog Day Afternoon. Look forward to seeing this.

Truly great film from a [then] great director.

I'd love to see a really great retrospective documentary on it too.

The 5 films (his only 5) John Cazale was in were all nominated for best picture.

1. The Godfather
2. The Conversation
3. The Godfather: Part II
4. Dog Day Afternoon
5. The Deer Hunter

Very exciting news. The Conversation will complete Coppola's great run of masterpieces during the 70's, from The Godfather to Apocalypse Now. It will be great to have them all on Blu-ray!

Now I wonder whether Lions Gate have any plans to release The Rainmaker...

That's one fine resume for Coppola: The Godfathers, Apocalypse Now, and The Conversation, amongst others.

And he was in archive footage in The Godfather: Part III (which came out in 1990, twelve years after Cazale's death), which was also nominated for Best Picture. So he appeared in six films, all of which were Best Picture nominees, and three (half) of which, won Best Picture.

Weighted properly, that has to be an unbeaten statistic.

Oscilloscope Laboratories is releasing the John Cazale documentary "I Knew It Was You" that aired on HBO. The release date is supposedly 11/9 but they haven't announced the specs yet. On the IMDB boards the director said they were working to include his sole television acting appearance on "NYPD" for the DVD too.

With "The Deer Hunter" available on a region-free disc "The Conversation" is the only Cazale film left when it comes to Blu-ray.
