Damn... and I heard so much about the FF featuring a ton more information on the edges. :\

Also, I wouldn't take everything in Boxoffice Magazine as gospel, since they didn't always report the correct aspect ratios. I've read several reviews where they list 1.85 ratios for 'scope films.

The Forgotton Films release is great if you don't mind the missing footage. In my opinion, the best version that you can purchase is the Japanese Happinet blu-ray. That features the Weinstein transfer.

Default The best?

The best release is really based on what you are looking for, the price you want to pay, and the extras you may want.

So I went through my files to see what I had saved of the "Night of the Living Dead Releases" and found these files. I also added what I had found out regarding the various releases of NOTLD as well as screen captures of the film, poster art, some case pics, and so on. In no way is this complete of what was lost when the blu-ray.com harddrive went kaput and I only saved the pages that I wanted a copy of. I threw in some NOTLD stuff that is either public domain, for public use, or that I myself have the rights to(some behind the scenes FIDO pics). There is probably much more info out there that I don't have, but this is what I do. I zipped everything in one easy place to download from. I am not going to split files for individual download as I don't have the time.

I do hope that the dead harddrive can be revived, but if it isn't then this is as good as it gets:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/nagytqpm2ww60og/NOTLD.zip

So enjoy!

I have one new and sealed for sale if you want. It is in the United States to a friend's.
I would make it 15$ shipping included (payment by Amazon.com gift card or Paypal)... if you want it let me know

The other way to get this edition is to buy it on the marketplace directly from the editor: http://www.amazon.com/Night-Living-D...he+living+dead

Default Ff

$15 is a good deal for the FF release especially with shipping included, so I would suggest getting it from Torrente.

I am not sure if FF sold out of their 1st run yet. Anyone know?

Default Bitrates, Filesizes, and other specs needed

Can someone repost the bitrate, file size and other specs on the Optimum, Happinet, Network, and Forgotten Films blu-ray releases? I think these would be very important to have in one post or at least one page of this thread. These were lost during the great harddrive death. Happinet seems to be the largest file size and bitrate, although no one has tested the Forgotten Films blu-ray for bitrate, file size, etc.

I don't think so. They've got one listed on Amazon right now for $16.95 + $2.98 s/h.

Can someone issue NOTLD in widescreen? Thank you.

PS: do not give a toss if the director does not agree. Public domain pal! Better wide than cropped top bottom left and right.
Widescreen is better.

I'm pretty sure that this would just be cropped top and bottom to make a widescreen version. Is there any evidence that a widescreen master exists for the film?
I care about cinema, not packaging. And yes, I will still buy DVDs too if I have to!

The Forgotten Films release is cropped exactly the same as the Optimum release, and is missing several seconds.
Any reason you want to go for a US version over the cheap Optimum version?

I got a copy of the UK Netwerk release and the picture quality is better than I expected given the age and pedigree for Night of the Living Dead. There may be better picture quality releases out there but this one works for me for now.

The closest to widescreen available for purchase is this NOTLD Widescreen releases which is in HD-DVD. As one of our experts here pointed out, the widescreen cropping is not the greatest and should have been framed better. This info was on this thread until the great harddrive death of June 2012 decimated 7 weeks of data.

Here is their youtube video:

and here is their site:

http://www.hddvd-revived.com/

I emailed them via their site but no response.

For North America, you'll need a North American release or a region free release. There are various releases that will fit the bill depending on how much you want to spend.
