Default Seth McFarlane's 'Ted'

Seth McFarlane Making R Rated Comedy Teddy Bear Comedy 'Ted' Starring Mark Wahlberg

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is making his directorial feature debut with Ted (also referred to before by the title Teddy Bear), a hard-R, $65 million(!) comedy from Universal Pictures about a man whose teddy bear comes to life and turns out to be a partying, womanizing, video game-playing pot smoker. A couple of weeks back, we mentioned a rumor that Mark Wahlberg had been eyeing the lead role for the film, and now the casting process has taken a step forward.

Deadline says Wahlberg will indeed star in the film, though let’s state for the record that they’re still in negotiations; nothing has been signed just yet.

Wahlberg will play “an average Boston guy, normal except for the childhood wish he made that his teddy bear could come to life — and it did. Years later, the boy is an adult, and the bear is still his best friend. But the bear, a carousing, irresponsible slacker, is getting in the way of his buddy committing to adulthood and the girl he loves.”

The film will be entirely live-action with the exception of the bear, which will be created with CG, and voiced (not surprisingly) by MacFarlane himself. MacFarlane co-wrote the script with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, two of the Family Guy writing staff. We’ve already learned about some of the other roles that the film will feature, such as “a racist homosexual, a woman obsessed with talking about men shaving their *******s, and a ‘Jewish-looking’ person who makes anti-Semitic remarks”.

I think the premise has a lot of potential, but then I read things like that and am instantly reminded that this is a Seth MacFarlane film. Still, watching Mark Wahlberg act opposite a cartoon teddy bear? Could be fun.

Default Ted

Quote:
Seth MacFarlane makes his directorial debut with Ted and Universal Pictures has just debuted the first trailer at Funny or Die. You can check it out in the player below as well as the newly-released poster and a trio of stills from the July 13th film.

This summer, the "Family Guy" creator brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish… and has refused to leave his side ever since.

You can also follow Ted himself on Twitter through the just-launched viral account, @whattedsaid.

Red Band Trailer

Like the poster said its from the creator of Family Guy, so you know what your getting into. If you like Family Guy, your most likely like this. But I like alot of silly comedies. Plus its a rude, crude, swearing teddy bear. how often do you see that?

Looks like a so stupid it has to be good kind of movie. The trailer makes me feel like I'm high. I guess that's a good thing for a gross-out comedy.

Is there any other movie besides this. Like I said its a movie about a swearing teddy bear, so its not gonna be high art. I think you know exactly what to expect in the trailer or even what the director has done. (Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show)

Sometimes we hear of people who are “very” honest, “mostly” honest, or even “a little” honest.
Should we even use modifiers with the word honest? I don’t believe so. There are no degrees of honesty. Either we are honest or we aren't.

I just hate how every time I hear Seth McFarlane, I just hear a combination of all of his other characters, minus Stewie.

I only really heard him use the Peter and Brian voice a bit. But the Brian voice is his real voice.

I didn't find it all that funny, I like Family Guy but all the rest of Seth McFarlane's stuff sucks to me. I do like it has his consistent style to it though, it looks unique enough and Marky Mark and Ted have an odd amount of chemistry with each other.
