I really liked the first season of Veronica Mars, but thought the quality dipped as the series continued. The show mainly succeeded in making Kristen Bell a star.

It's sad but I feel like I will never get over this show ending. I think it's ridiculous it ended. Canceling this show was such a huge mistake for The CW. Most of the shows on their network now would kill for the ratings this critically acclaimed show was getting. They should have stuck with it and allowed it to continue growing. This show was too great to just throw away.

I know how unlikely it is now but I'm desperate for them to make the movie or another season of the show. I'm kinda p*ssed at WB for passing on the movie. Obviously it wouldn't have been a big blockbuster, but surely it would have made back what they put into it if it were to have a relatively low budget (10-15 Million). I don't see why they can't just make us happy and greenlight the movie. It's really no skin off their back. I also think they could start a Kickstarter and let the fans help fund the movie, so it's even less they'd have to spend. I'd definitely donate.

Out of all of the shows that I've loved that have ended, this one hurts the most.

I continue to have hope. Kristen Bell looks young as ever still, so they definitely have a lot of time for a movie. The sooner would be best though.

Same here.

On topic though, I loved this show. I'll always feel that season 1 was the best, but the other seasons were good too.

Did anyone see the pilot they made for the 4th Season where Veronica had become an FBI Agent? It actually looked pretty good.

I agree The CW shouldn't have cancelled it so early. Kristen Bell is an even bigger star now and it seems like the right time to make the movie.

I liked this show. I have all 3 seasons on dvd.

It was really a victim of the WB/UPN merge. Alot of the shows were either canceled one year after being on the newly CW or canceled after the merge.

I read somewhere that Supernatural barely got picked up by the CW after it's first season and here we are going into it's eighth season. It had to do who was running the CW. It was a woman named Dawn, I heard she wanted to make the CW a Lifetime but for teens. And got rid of stuff she felt didn't fit their image. Gladly she stepped down a couple years ago.

It could especially work if they follow the plot of her being an FBI agent. I know Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell keep saying not to give up hope, but it's hard.

What really kills me is The CW kept One Tree Hill over this. WTF? I don't recall ratings being much better for that.

They need to release this show on Blu-ray.

It's not about money as Kristen Bell has offered to finance the movie herself. Im not sure the season 4 scenario would have worked unless they found a believable way to include her father. So much of the core of VM had to do with the father daughter relationship.

I didn't know they'd pay for the whole movie. I know for sure she said she'd help pay for it, as did Rob Thomas. She also said she'd do it for free. So what the hell is the problem, Warner Bros.?

On one of the season 3 dvd they had about 10 minutes of and episode for the next season. The was in the police academy and doing undercover stuff. Her and another officer had to work at some strip club or something. I will see if I can find it.

Dawn Ostroff is the worst thing that happened to broadcast television ever. She is the reason the negotiations between Lauren Graham and Warner Brothers broke down and GG ended without a series finale. She is the one that never wanted a third season of "Veronica Mars" in the first place, because it was a UPN holdover. She is the one that personally greenlite the eleventh season of "7th Heaven" (after already airing a SERIES FINALE) instead of picking up "Everwood;" Not to mention that she would only allow 1 male-skewing pilot to be shot per season.

Honestly I'm surprised the CW survived her (at it's barely surviving at that)... Last season's crop of new series were still holdovers from her reign (with the exception of 'Ringer' which was obviously taken from CBS); so this new season is the first season with the new Network Head's (Mark Pedowitz) pilots.

If they're offering to pay for it themselves, can't they do it independently?

This. Every once in awhile I'll watch the DVDs on my 60" TV and the quality looks rather disappointing.

The problem was that the series was owned by Joel Silver, a once-upon-a-time big producer for Warner Brothers. But by the end of his reign the WB hasn't nearly as happy to throw money at him as he once was. He has since left Warner Brothers and signed a deal with Universal. So while an Independent film would be the best route for the franchise (not to mention there is no way a film would be commercially viable if the budget was above $20mil), there are now two large corporations that have their hands in the matter.

Well just because she offered to finance the movie doesnt mean she meant to pay for it out her pocket. Bell and her husband Dax Shepard recently made Hit and Run which was basically written, directed, produced and starred in by the pair. They financed that movie themselves I believe.

Yeas, she was in the FBI training academy. It built on a season three plot thread where she had been chosen for an FBI internship while she was on break from college.

For one they'd need to buy the rights and I didn't think WB wanted to sell them to them or something. Which is crazy if they aren't doing anything with them.

I wonder if there's some way they could do this by using crowdfunding. There seems to be a lot of filmmakers going this route to fund their projects. I did suggest this on Twitter and Rob Thomas liked my post .

She really ran the network into the ground, IMO. Her taking over was the biggest possible mistake. It's crazy to me to look at old ratings for WB and see how big a lot of the shows on there actually were.

I hope they can turn things around a bit this season.

The only way to watch a good shows is to slam them. Watching one episode a week is barbaric! I doubt it will ever catch on
