So many announcments this week.

hated Happy Feet, but this one looked good. is it a good blind buy?

This has to be one of the most beautiful movies ever put on screen.

Having said that, I'm sad there is no extended cut, I mean, yes, I know it's technically just a 'kids' movie (which I disagree with) but it should still deserve a Watchmen-like extended cut because whilst the movie is great, it's not excellent because it's way too short.

Why Zack, why?! The Town is getting an extended cut, and since I haven't seen it, but reviews say it's great, it doesn't really need one!

2 reasons why there is no extended cut:

1. This is a CGI animated movie. Scenes from animated films are usually cut BEFORE rendering. So to add additional scenes would cost $$$$

2. The film was a total bomb, thus there is no incentive to finish more scenes


I will be getting this though.

I thought this movie was visually stunning, but the mismash of a story really hindered my overall enjoyment of the film - will more than likely rent this to watch the extras, than actually fork out the money to purchase this.

supposedly the UK IMAX version was 101 minutes as opposed to the standard theatrical US release

That is probably just including the Looney Toons short that was shown before the film.

It doesn't have Toy Story 3 level storytelling. However it does a good job with a classic good versus evil storyline. Its a much too rare example of dark mature animation that takes itself seriously. So if your into movies like Watership Down or The Secret of NIMH this one should be a safe bet.

It cost 80 million to make so while it wasn't a hit I have seen much worse bombs.

I'm surprised this movie is coming out on Blu this quick. I just saw this at the theaters not long ago. Very good visuals but found the story underwhelming. I was falling asleep parts of it at the movies. Rent first.

I never even heard of it until I saw an ad or two. Owls? Doing epic battle? Chalk it up for a rent at least. I'm a sucker for epic animation.

One of the few movies I've seen in the theater in the last few years. I enjoyed it a lot. I'd never pay $35.99 for a plain old Blu-ray though. I doubt it will be that much come it's release though.
