I really wish the Feature Length Rough Cut is added to the release, however I would imagine it would be 480 res only... so hang onto your original DVDs.

This is one release I have been waiting for on blu-ray. I know the upgrade won't be major, but for as long as it took to be released, at the same time I didn't expect it so soon.

Such great news. I can't wait to see the blu-ray cover art. Would be nice if they did something shiny.

If it can look as good as Fire and Ice then we're golden. Methinks.
... And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

i love this movie, i was in the Navy when it came out saw it with some friends, we were f'd up and loved it. the music and the stories were incredible. i was also a hugh fan of the magazine and knew all of the stories ahead of time but seeing and hearing it was a totally different experience. i do hope they have done even a little restoration to clean up some of the dirt & artifacts as well as hoping for a lossless audio track which will be incredible. what would really make this stand out is if they did a "juke box" type thing where you could just listen to the songs from the soundtrack and of course if that juke box was lossless, phuck me! i have both the first DVD release and the later enhanced SuperBit DTS relase so I am hopefull for a DTS-HD-MA release either 5 or 7.1 will do nicely! even if you are not into the stories, this movie's soundtrack is so fierce that it's worth the purchase just to have the soundtrack! This is a day one release purchase for me, no questions, that opening sequence will be spectacular in 1080p & lossless and of course, i can't wait to see Tarna in HD!

it's time to roll'em up people, drop a hit and be ready for some serious head $hit!

Collector's edition DVD has an animatic version; I forget if it's the entire movie or select segments. Either way, it shows the animation in a very rough state with unfinished sketches and stuff.

I think it's cool, and would hope they keep it. Otherwise, I'll keep my DVD, dammit.

I thought they might have been waiting for the 30th anniversary (2011) to release it.

Heard there were some music-rights changes from the original movie when it first finally arrived on DVD--
Might or might not pick it up, but does anybody know what was changed for the soundtrack?

it is a Feature Length Rough Cut with Optional Audio Commentary. So hang onto your DVDs for sure. I still even have my SuperBit DVD release.
