Canada Cannibal Girls

Just picked up Cannibal Girls, the 70's Canadian cult classic from HMV for $14.99. Had no idea it was out on blu. Released by Warner Music Canada. Not in the database on this site yet.

Yep, with Eugene Levy from 1973

This site has two listings...

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cannib...Blu-ray/18446/

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cannib...Blu-ray/18447/

The latter version I don't see listed on amazon.ca site... the standard BLU ray release (the first link) Seems to be in stock.

Okay - here's what I can tell you having taken a glance at it.

It's a 1.78 transfer, not a 1.85 as listed on the back.

Audio is mono.

Picture is pretty good all things considered! Remember this is a low budget B movie, the cinematography isn't that hot to begin with so sharpness and colour quality tend to be inconsistent, I blame this on the original film however. Blacks look good, grain is definitely there. No glaring sign of DNR or other digital "clean up". Has a 16mm feel to it, although imdb list it as 35mm. Detail is decent. It does show a fair bit of damage in terms of scratches, dirt and specs. These aren't horrible, it just doesn't have that "cleaned up negative" look. It's what you'd expect from a cult Canadian film after 40 years of storage.

Extras:

The option to play the film with the original AIP "warning bells" soundtrack.

Interviews with Ivan Reitman, Daniel Goldberg and Eugene Levy

Orientation - a short film by Reitman

Original Trailer

Overall, I recommend.

Thanks so much for the run down of the release I will have to order this for sure. I've never seen it but have been curious about the film.

ANy chance you can post any images of the front / back cover? The ones on this site so far are really small and very low resolution.

Also is the AUDIO Uncompressed or just standard Mono?

Oh my, awesome find! I haven't seen this film, but I love Eugene Levy (well, before the American Pie days). I'll add it to my CDN exclusive thread right now.
1921 DVDs,
916 Blu-rays,
175 HD DVDs,
37 Laserdiscs
& counting...
