Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

Yep, with Eugene Levy from 1973
This site has two listings... http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cannib...Blu-ray/18446/ http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Cannib...Blu-ray/18447/ The latter version I don't see listed on amazon.ca site... the standard BLU ray release (the first link) Seems to be in stock. http://www.amazon.ca/Cannibal-Girls-...1359870&sr=1-1

It's a 1.78 transfer, not a 1.85 as listed on the back. Audio is mono. Picture is pretty good all things considered! Remember this is a low budget B movie, the cinematography isn't that hot to begin with so sharpness and colour quality tend to be inconsistent, I blame this on the original film however. Blacks look good, grain is definitely there. No glaring sign of DNR or other digital "clean up". Has a 16mm feel to it, although imdb list it as 35mm. Detail is decent. It does show a fair bit of damage in terms of scratches, dirt and specs. These aren't horrible, it just doesn't have that "cleaned up negative" look. It's what you'd expect from a cult Canadian film after 40 years of storage. Extras: The option to play the film with the original AIP "warning bells" soundtrack. Interviews with Ivan Reitman, Daniel Goldberg and Eugene Levy Orientation - a short film by Reitman Original Trailer Overall, I recommend. |

Thanks so much for the run down of the release I will have to order this for sure. I've never seen it but have been curious about the film.
ANy chance you can post any images of the front / back cover? The ones on this site so far are really small and very low resolution. Also is the AUDIO Uncompressed or just standard Mono?

Oh my, awesome find! I haven't seen this film, but I love Eugene Levy (well, before the American Pie days). I'll add it to my CDN exclusive thread right now.
