The ONK 5008 showed up early!!!!!! It was scheduled for delivery on Friday -- but I'm good with that

I just finished running the XT32 program with only the factory basic settings...................

All I can say is OH MY GAWD! This thing is amazing! Now I cannot wait for the Emotiva XPA-5 to get here (next week).

Right now I have Molly Hatchet's Greatest Hits playing, and I cannot get the smile off my face.

I did double check the BluRay connections with the 1.4a HDMI cables after I plugged everything in, it makes a standard uploading DVD at 1080p look like a BluRay. This alone was worth the price of admission.

When the 5008 arrived I thought they added a bunch of cinder blocks to the box, it is staggering how heavy this thing is!

With all the buttons and a thick manual with pictures, I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

Yes -- I had to "tweak" the entertainment center quite a bit to get it to fit, no problem, since I had to make some modifications for the XPA-5 anyway.

Default Front height speakers

Out of curiosity I connected a couple speakers for the front height channels. Depending what is playing, this changes the front stage quite a bit -- the 5008 with the XT32 shines!

In the movie 300 when the "arrows block out the sun" you can hear the arrows at the apex of flight. I ran the same scene with and without the front height speakers, and you can hear the subtle differences.

I then stuck the WWI movie Flyboys in, the dog fights come to life with 9.2.

At first it was only going to be an experiment, but now I think I'm going to keep them connected

Default Clicking???

I'm considering purchase of a 3008 or 5008, but I noticed several complaints recently from customers regarding a clicking noise from these receivers when changing channels and even between commercials. I'm accustomed to receiver relays clicking when switching input sources, but between commercials or channels would be annoying. Are any of you guys hearing this with your Onks???

they do click but its much more subtle than my last onk...only does it when your watching cable and you switch to a channel with a different audio output or when a commercial comes on...you have to be really picky and annoyed by such things to keep you from enjoying the pleasure of this epic machine (price to performance is tough to beat if at all)
