Whoa, I didn't think we'd be seeing these for a while.

The DVD transfers were really good. It will be interesting to see what these look/sound like.

Let's hope that the Blu-ray release will be awesome as well and that there will be more boxsets like this coming in 2011.

no doubt this will be a groundbreaking release, as far as the sheer number of films being issued in hd at the same time.
I'm still in shock that these are all coming out at the same time.
I mean good god!.
Now we just need Warner to follow suit with some of their box sets.
I would give anything for the Warner film noir and gangster sets to all come out on blu.
that would be INCREDIBLE!!

Never seen any of these films, so very interested in the box set.
Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

That's a good question. It's always nice to have the colorized version of a movie as an option, so that when someone comes over who says, "I don't like B&W movies, can we watch the color version?", you can say "sure, but we won't because I'm going to teach you how to appreciate film".

Oh dear, Amazon says these will be 1.77:1. I hope this isn't an indication that MPI have cropped them to fill a 16x9 screen. I know Amazon is wrong more often than not, but their DVD edition page says 1.33:1, which leads me to believe MPI told them the BD would be 1.77:1...

I doubt MPI would be so ignorant of its target audience to crop these. I believe they were all meticulously restored by UCLA and include the original war bond and Universal Pictures logos that were removed from original elements in the 1950s. This is now the most anticipated release for me other than Star Wars.

no chance imo they will be 16:9--that would be the most pathetic blunder ever.
