Smile Philips 2000 Series BDP2700

My sister saw this played in our local ASDA today for just under 60. She has never owned a blu-ray player before and wants one, as she likes mine.

Me being the only blu-ray owner in the family, she came to me for help. I thought I'd ask the friendly community if they could help me out

Basically, is this a good player? I obviously don't expect a player the same quality as a Sony one, but this is her first one and her TV is only around 26" I think. She needs a new DVD player as her old one broke so figured she'd get with the times and upgrade.

Thanks very much in advance and I hope you can understand what the **** I'm talking about!

All the best
Sam

Thumbs up reviews BDP2700

Pros:
-the best thing about this player is you can make it multi-region by having few clicks on remote. (only the dvd part not the blu-ray part)
-picture is great. did a great job in upscaling dvds.
-Includes an ethernet port for software updates and BD-Live.
-time search feature is quite useful.
-easy to use. Good user interface.
-value for money
-Dixv playback is good as well

Cons
-Lacks DTS-MA HD decoding
-can't play is a m2ts file
-had trouble with JDrama and Anime which tend to use less common audio formats and video standards (AAC audio was a main problem)
-Noisy when first accessing a disc

overall,
to this price, this is definitely something good to have!
