United Kingdom Can my UK PS3 play American blu-rays?

I'm planning on buying an imported blu-ray from eBay, but I'm not sure if my UK PS3 will play it? It's a Region 1 (USA & Canada) blu-ray, does anyone know if it will work?
Thanks.

Blu-rays are either Region A, B, C or a combination. Your UK Region B PS3 will NOT play Region A US Blu-rays. Although it will playback multiple region Blu-rays (ABC), or anything which has a B on it .

Blu-ray Wishlist: True Lies | The Abyss | Midnight Run | Bad Boys II | Balls of Fury | Over The Hedge | Twins | Ghostbusters II

Thanks for that
So if my UK PS3 doesn't play Region A Blu-Rays, will my Region A blu-ray player play it?

It's not region 2 it's B. 2 is for DVD's B is for Blu-rays. No unless they're region free titles it won't.

Blu-Ray regions are A/B/C not 1/2/3 etc. The answer is no if it's region-locked, the clue is in the name again I picked up a blu-ray player from Tesco the other week though that has multi-region capabilities through a remote command:

Ah Technika.... They either burst into flames or try to kill you after becoming self-aware through an A.I. firmware update.

Only kidding Tesco we all know your stuff is....

I hack all my dvd players to be region free, although the blu-ray players I have would require a hardware hack which I am not going to do... :P

It cost me an extra £200 to have my S-360 modded to play A B C.

Pricey, but well worth it in my eyes.

Go here - http://bluray.liesinc.net/

Green titles will work, pink ones will not.

If the title you want is pink you will have to wait until the UK version is released.

I have 200+ blu rays and I don't have a problem with the ratio of locked to unlocked titles. I believe I have about 6 or 7 blu rays which are locked to A.

Instead of spending £200 on making a player region free you might as well have asked a member here to send you a USA PS3 which is what I did. Now I have 2 machines which both run on 220v (Yes USA PS3's run on 220v you just replace the plug lead).

By spending £200 you have ruined your warranty by modding the player, all the workload is done by one player so if it breaks your screwed. More than 90% of my discs play in both players. Honestly region free players are over rated imho.

The PS3 has an internal voltage converter and will operate anywhere around the world. I have both a UK and a US one and all I had to do to get the US one working here in the UK was replace its US cable with a ... kettle lead!!! Lol!

This is what I did, but I brought my American PS3 back with me when I was on holiday in Houston.

I didn't want 2 blu-ray players, just wanted 1 player that did the lot.

I also haven't ruined the warranty either as i was given a warranty by the company in the US from were i imported it from.

Not interested in the PS3 either, nothing on the console that interests me.
