I'll buy it when the HBO half price sale is live (guess I might have to wait a while). I still POed over the fact that my VIP 722 only recorded 6 of the episodes when I had it set to record the entire series.

A word of warning to all blind buyers: this show is incredibly slow. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's definitely not as action packed as the trailers let on. It's a slow-paced, brooding type of show. I enjoyed the first season, but I have no desire to own it.

This is an excellent show, it does however as another poster said take a few episodes to pick up steam.

I have the entire first season sitting on my DVR, just haven't gotten around to watching any of the episodes yet. It showed up in my Goldbox today though so I figured I'd take advantage since I've heard such good things about it.

Boardwalk Empire is nothing at all like Mad Men. The only reason anyone would compare the two shows is because they're both period pieces. That's it. Boardwalk Empire focuses on much different themes and is structured in a completely different way.

While I would agree that the pacing can be considered slow, I don't think that is a bad thing. With the ensemble the show has, it kind of has to take it's time to develop each character. Almost every character feels stretched out by the end of the season.

5% off, so $53.19 right now. I doubt I'll be willing to pay that much come release day so I'm banking on the price going down before then. But since I'll keep the 5% off no matter what price it ends up at, and Amazon doesn't charge until it ships, I figured there was no harm in putting in an order. Its what I do for almost any pre-order I have even the slighest interest in if it shows up in my Goldbox. Just need to keep an eye on the release date and price to see if I actually want it Day 1 or not.
