That's true, I wasn't thinking about that earlier. It would have been nice if the U.S. got it already, but at least the release isn't getting skipped! That would be something I'd complain over.

I say just be happy we are actually getting this in the U.S. , this is perhaps the first time there has been an anniversary release of a David Lynch movie in the U.S. and hopefully it does well enough to convince MGM to release Wild at Heart as well and maybe even Universal to release Lost Highway and Mulholland Dr. on Blu-Ray.

I'm very happy that we're getting it.Those screencaps have quickly lifted my worries about a medicore transfer, so I'm just excited more than anything.

On November 8th, I'm going straight to Best Buy.

Um, you should call ahead and make sure they're ordering copies. I remember when Lost Highway FINALLY got a US DVD release, I went to Best Buy to get it and they didn't have it at all.

Thanks for the great info. I wanted to see if you would be willing to post the track listing for the Deleted Scenes in terms of how many and what they are called.

I've been waiting to see the Deleted Scenes ever since reading about them in the early 90's.

I'm also very curious if the most famous scene where Dennis Hopper beats up a guy (Willard if I remember correctly) in a bar and at the end of the scene, a lady lights her nipple on fire.

I recall in the book "Lynch on Lynch" David Lynch described the reason for removing this scene was that it was "too much of a good thing". Since DVD has come out, in many interviews, he was quoted as saying that this particular scene was the #1 Deleted Scene from any of his films that he wanted to release but at the time could not find the negative for it.

Anyway, thanks for the early peek of the specs on this title.

Looks like Best Buy won't even be selling the Blue Velvet Blu-Ray, they had it up for pre-order for about two or three weeks but then pulled the listing for the Blu-Ray from their site, everyone else still has pre-orders up for it including walmart where I ordered from recently, it's worth noting that Best Buy has been doing this a lot with Blu-Rays recently, they pulled The Killing Criterion Blu-Ray about a week or two after it's release and they didn't even bother with the Blood Simple Blu-Ray.

You don't say! I just looked it up and couldn't find a listing on the site. Wal-Mart got MGM's Troll 2 release, so maybe they'll be my last chance for a retail store purchase. I'd go straight for Amazon if they offered cheap release-day shipping like they do with games. Guess I'll go check on that now....

1) Frank beats Willard in a bar.
2) A neighbor sees Jeffrey's dad unconscious in his yard.
3) Jeffrey is recalled from college when his father suffers a brain hemorrhage. Summoned from a school dance (where he watches a date rape in progress - !) Jeffrey gets the bad news on a dorm phone.
4) Jeffrey calls Louise.
5) Jeffrey first sees Sandy while eating cake with her mother. He also meets Sandy's boyfriend Mike at this time. Jeffrey and Sandy go to the Slow Club.
6) Jeffrey's mom criticizes him for coming back home late.
7) Jeffrey calls Louise again.
8) Jeffrey talks to aunt Barbara before going out.
9) At the Williams house Jeffrey makes Mike jealous by hanging out with the couple.
10) Jeffrey calls Dorothy but it's Frank who answers the phone.
11) Jeffrey goes to Dorothy's apartment. She leads Jeffrey to the apartment roof. Dorothy almost throws herself from the roof in despair. They end up making love.

maybe those scenes were'nt in good shape and too damaged to use? this is all found footage right?

how do the deleted scenes provided look compared to the transfer of the movie itself? im pretty happy that we're getting them in 1080p.

I do recall Lynch stating that some of those scenes "didn't work." The 53 minutes he picked is probably what he would have had in the film originally if it weren't for the 2 hour time limit.

There are some screengrabs on the last page. They look a tiny bit grainier, but that probably has to with how they've been stored and taken care of. (Remember, they've essentially been lost for over twenty-years. Who knows how they've been handled since then?)

Other than that, they look nearly identical. Not a slop-job at all and that I'm extremely thankful for. Most of all, I'm very happy that MGM worked with Lynch once again. They've been very good to him instead of just passing off the movie for a quick buck.

This has me so excited! I can't wait to see the scene where Jeffrey calls Dorothy and Frank answers. This kind of reminds me of the scene in Lost Highway when Pete recieves a call from Mr. Eddy
