The thing is that they want to remake a classic horror movie, which is actually a really great one. They want to improve it here and there and make it modern. Fine. But then you see this girl gets cast as the lead and you just know, that they are not even trying. A real kick in the nuts.

Movies get made over all the time, that's just Hollywood.

Just cause you see a picture of someone from whenever doesn't mean that's how their gonna look. I remember people complaining about Ronney Mara being cast as Lisbeth in Girl with the dragon tattoo and are now praising.

But i guess its alot easier to piss and moan, then rather wait to see how it turns out. But hey that's the internet for you.

..or when Hayden Panettiere was cast in Scream 4. Everyone was mad because all she played was cheerleaders. Now she's the fan favorite of the new cast.

Hypocrites alot of these people are. Say one thing at the start and after its out they change their tune.

But why people get mad when a remake comes out is beyond me. It doesn't erase the original and it brings more attention to the original for alot to see before the remake. And to as why they don't re-release the first one. They are about making movies, not releasing a 30 year old movie. You might think it sucks or its stupid, but thats how it works. Yes they are taking it for mass production of getting as many people to see it as possible. Cause the youth of today would think the effects are as they would probably put it

And you just hit the nail on the head (or something like that )

I remember seeing King Kong (the 1933 version) in the mid 70s as a kid and my reaction was not how lame the effects were but rather being interested in the story for the sake of it. I was being pulled in a fantasy world where I could see dinosaurs and other monsters and it was amazing.

I feel truly sad for today's youth to have lost all of this, to be incapable to enjoy a movie for the story but only like it because of the effects.

I was really wishing this reboot was going to be forgotten like it should be. Nobody can replace Bruce as Ash. Not one actor will live up to the part so why even try?

I assume you think I'm one of these people? If so, I can assure you that I am not. I wanted Rooney Mara to get the role even before it was made public that she was being considered for the role.

I wasn't keen on her getting the part and I wasn't after watching the film. She annoyed the hell out of him. Very unlikable character imo. But I didn't like the movie, too.

They are trying becuase Bruce really pushed for this remake. One of the major factors in getting this remake/reboot off the ground has been Bruce's involvement.
