Yesss. I've been waiting for this for a while now. If they just port over the extras from the two-disc DVD, I'll be happy.

wow, MGM on a definite roll lately.
but where is "The Great Escape"?
as far as Fiddler, I hope people aren't expecting too much because I just don't see some big restoration having been done.
Based on recent MGM releases I'd have to assume it will be based on the most recent dvd master.
that doesn't mean it can't be good, but I just don't think it will be anything like "The Sound of Music".
hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.

Default yes!

One of the greatest films of all time (not just musical) finally on Bluray. I use to do theater a few years back and I got the roll of the Beggar.

I am impressed with the cover art - it's much better than any previous release I believe.

First day purchase. I would love for even more musicals to make it to Blu. Especially the 10th Anniversary Les Miserables concert. I have the 25th Anniversary one on order, but would love to have the 10th.

Here is the old LaserDisc Box Set Artwork.

I can't find a decent scan of it anywhere without watermarkings.

I don't think that the new BD cover art is that bad, I have seen far worse, The font etc looks nice that BLU border and the BD / DVD Banner is kind of not needed so much. (On any title IMO)

It sure took the title quite literally... I don't really like it, but it's far from the worst covers for catalog titles we've seen recently. Of course the original poster art blows it away, but that's almost always the case with classic movies.
Blu-ray releases should be perfect representations of their cinema counterparts.

It's trying to invoke the classic 70's-rerelease art the DVD's have had since VHS,
http://www.amazon.com/Fiddler-Roof-Topol/dp/0792838955
but you know how MGM would rather make new covers than pay for old copyrighted ones.
Me, I'm just not used to seeing a Fiddler release that wasn't orange.

And for those who haven't seen it and need persuasion (with arrangements by John Williams):
