I purchased the Denon AVR-791 a week or two ago, but noticed that the speakers produced a lot more hiss compared to my digital receiver previously. It is mostly noticeable when there is silence in the soundtrack or when my PS3 is in the XMB menu. This is mainly bothersome when I have the volume cranked up though, since the hiss becomes very audible then. I have Audyssey turned on along with the Dynamic EQ, seems to be a bit less hiss when I set it to direct mode. I have Polk Audio speakers by the way. Anyone know if this hiss is normal?

Nope, LG. Any reason why the television would be responsible for this though? :S

I got a Samsung plasma with a Denon AVR591, and when I got everything up and running the speakers made a buzzing noise. If I turned the TV off but kept everything else on, the buzzing would completely disappear. After reading:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/archi...t-1267972.html I found others were having the EXACT same problem as me with the exact TV's and receivers. I decided to take back my Denon and replace it with a Yamaha, and the buzzing was completely gone. Apparently Denon has major compatibility issues with the 2010 Samsung models, and causes electrical interference. I'm not sure if the issue exists outside of Samsung, but after you have tried every other way of fixing the hissing noise(i.e. ground loop isolation, isolating the cable box ect.). I would try replacing your receiver to see if that fixes the problem.
