Can't wait to hear Tom Sawyer, Limelight, and Red Barchetta in Blu Ray Audio. Neil's drums will (hopefully) sound monstrous in lossless audio. Shame their current tour won't be coming to Indianapolis. They usually stop through on every tour but not this one. I think it would be great to hear some of their other albums on Blu Ray Audio as well, in addition to Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon(the SACD sounds great), The Wall and Wish You Were Here.

+100 for the new avatar and the list - my list order would be pretty much the same except I'd drop Moving Pictures 2 spots to #4... sorry, just like the older albums a little better... But Farewell to Kings was always my favorite as well. Xanadu being my most favorit-est Rush song, with Bytor on Fly by Night second...

Now amazon.com has it listed for Preorder, price 26.71.
Maybe below 20 before release date, like it was with Mojo?

I'm definitely getting this one. Not only to support the format but also because it seems like a great album. I already knew I liked Rush but this will be the first album by them that I actually own.

Holland Vital signs

On Rush.com they "say" that the video:Vital Signs (Music Video – 5.1 & Stereo – Previously Unreleased)

But i can remember that it was released on the Laserdisc; "Through the camera eye".

Of course they are right if they mean prev. unrel. in 5.1 but in stereo i had it on the Laserdisc.

I don't know if it was on the VHS tape.

But than again Lock and Key was also only on the Laserdisc and not on VHS and not on the DVD.

I have a number of their LD releases: Exit Stage Left, Chronicles, Through the Camera Eye, Show of Hands - ya, Vital Signs was definitely on there.

Amazon preorder link added to Blu-Audio release list in the Blu Audio thread: http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mus...on-thread.html

Doc

PS: If anyone from the band happens to read this forum or if Richard Chycki would be willing to chime in with commentary on the work involved to bring this project to light - we'd love to hear from you guys!!!

You know, I added the Amazon pre-order link - but can we get a Blu-ray.com preorder link added to the BR.C info page, so each preorder can continue to benefit the site??? (click here if anyone doesn't know what I mean by that... http://forum.blu-ray.com/feedback-fo...u-ray-com.html )

CODE MONKEYS, Where are you??? I'm going to hold off ordering mine until the Amazon link is on the BR.C page - I'd politely ask everyone to do the same, since every preorder helps fund our beloved forum...

Moving Pictures is my favorite Rush album. This will be a win. Hopefully.
Folks bothered by other folks not using the "Search" function probably spend more time talking about Blu than actually watching them.

From the Rush website:

Quote:
Both DVD & Blu-ray formats will boast the 5.1 surround sound and stereo audio in 96kHz/24-bit high-resolution audiophile playback which offers 256 times more resolution than CD audio, providing the listener with the closest experience you can have to what the artists hear in the studio. The DVD is playable on both DVD-Audio and DVD-Video players, the latter players will include Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and PCM stereo playback. Blu-ray discs will also feature DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound in addition to 96kHz/24-bit PCM 5.1 surround sound and stereo.
Looks like the DVD will be a DVD-Audio release, but the Blu-ray will be the option for me.

Hopefully the "stereo audio in 96kHz/24-bit high-resolution" will still be accessible on the DVD-Video portion, too... I'm all for backwards compatibility!

Yep, the 24/96 PCM 2.0 will be accessible for all DVD-Video players, along with a Dolby Digital 448 Kbps 5.1 track. DVD-Audio player will unlock the 24/96 5.1 MLP track.

Looks like a very well thought out release.

The 5.1 Surround Sound remix of RUSH's classic 1981 album "Moving Pictures" will be released on April 5. Two packages will be made available — a CD/DVD set and a CD/BD (Blu-ray disc) set. According to the RushIsABand.com web site, the CD will contain the stereo mix while the DVD/Blu-ray will contain the Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo mix. As an added bonus the DVD/Blu-ray will also contain 5.1 mixes of the music videos for "Tom Sawyer", "Limelight" and "Vital Signs".

"Moving Pictures" 5.1 Surround Sound remix track listing:

Disc 1:

01. Tom Sawyer
02. Red Barchetta
03. YYZ
04. Limelight
05. The Camera Eye
06. Witch Hunt
07. Vital Signs

Disc 2:

01. Tom Sawyer (Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo)
02. Red Barchetta (Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo)
03. YYZ (Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo)
04. Limelight (Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo)
05. The Camera Eye (Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo)
06. Witch Hunt (Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo)
07. Vital Signs (Audiophile 5.1 Surround and Stereo)
08. Tom Sawyer (Music Video - 5.1 & Stereo)
09. Limelight (Music Video - 5.1 & Stereo)

The 5.1 Surround Sound remix of "Moving Pictures" was handled by Canadian producer/engineer Richard Chycki — who is known for his work with AEROSMITH and OUR LADY PEACE, and who teamed up with Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, DEATH ANGEL, STONE SOUR) on RUSH's last studio album, 2007's "Snakes & Arrows". He recently wrote on his official blog, "I finished tweaks on 'Red Barchetta' [on February 3]. It really was an amazing experience to spread the original tracks of such a classic CD into the 3D word of surround. (The car speeds off, goes behind and banks a sharp right in rear, [by the way]). The listening experience is drastically enveloping and coupled with songs and performances that epitomize this band, it's definitely a great time to re-discover RUSH.

"After discussion with the band, the goal here was to pay serious homage to the production of the era so a considerable amount of time was spent researching and working through effects, etc. that matched the original but would fare well in the 5.1 world. And, of course, placement was also a critical issue. I'm pleased with the results and [RUSH guitarist] Alex Lifeson was pretty blown away when he came in to listen to the finals."

RUSH's current "Time Machine Tour" is an evening with the band, where they perform their classics, give a taste of the future — and for the first time ever — feature the "Moving Pictures" album live in its entirety.

Released in 1981, "Moving Pictures" was RUSH's most successful album, certified four-times platinum and features some of the band's most well known songs and perennial radio favourites "Tom Sawyer", "Limelight" and the Grammy-nominated instrumental "YYZ".
awesome! but I'm still suspect that Terry Brown is not involved.

Broon was arguably the 4th member of Rush...

he was on the recent VH1 classics for moving pics and 2112 and was cool to see him in the studio at a mixing board with the band at one point.

ah well... i have the original stereo mix on mobile fidelity gold disc (or is that signals and 2112? hmm.. time to plunge into the wall of CDs!)

damn fine band....

I wonder if the instrumental "Broon's Bane" from "Exit.. Stage Left" is dedicated to Terry?

"Broon's Bane
Found on the Exit...Stage Left live album, "Broon's Bane" is a short classical guitar arrangement performed by Lifeson as an extended intro to "The Trees". The song is named after Terry Brown (Brown is also referred to as "T.C. Broonsie" during the intro to Jacob's Ladder) who produced Exit...Stage Left and 10 other Rush albums. It is not featured on any other live or studio recording by Rush. The song repeats and builds upon the same three-beat line, coming to a climax about one minute into the piece before segueing into "The Trees."

I added the Amazon.com link to the US listing, it just needs to be approved by a Mod...then I can order, a bit pricey though, right now.
