Of course, the big question is if this release (as pictured in the sell sheet above) will be comparable to the UK release, or will it be Oprah-fied (or other celebrity as appropriate)...
Forget The Evil Dead; what George Lucas has done to Star Wars since 1997 is truly "The Ultimate Experience in Grueling Terror".

The sheet says "The original BBC broadcast version".

Seems similar to:

I never understood why they would bother to re-dub the narration in Life with Oprah. Yes, I can see how that would draw a much larger audience to it but her voice is not the kind of voice you want to hear for an extended period of time... terrible narration voice.

I'm glad they released both versions of Life though so hopefully if anything similar happens with any future BBC stuff they take note and do the same.

I'll definitely be picking this up. Hopefully it has Attenborough narrating.

I'm surprised I haven't heard of this. I'll most likely pick it up regardless. Being produced by the makers of Planet Earth and Life, it's got to be brilliant.

The same reason why Planet Earth was re-dubbed with Daryl Hannah for television in the USA. In general, American audiences do not like a British voice for narration. The BBC series called Horizon in the UK is re-dubbed with American voice and is called Nova for American audiences.

Don't know why they're not releasing "Mountain Gorilla" when they are releasing "Madagascar."

Definitely picking this up. Doesn't really bother me who narrates it(David Attenborough is great, but honestly, after watching Planet Earth and Life back to back, I'm getting tired of the same voice lol). Saw some footage of Human Planet and lovin' it.

I have just received the English disc of "Human Planet".
It is narrated by John Hurt. If you haven't heard of it check out this awesome trailer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HiUMlOz4UQ

Alas it does not play on my Sony BDP-S570 and probably not on other U.S. players. I have got several Blu-rays from 2Entertain in the U.K. the past which have had no region encoding. I thought I saw that this one didn't either, but it apparently is restricted to Region B. On the discs in very small print it says "For domestic use only"

Time to get an all region Blu-ray player.

It might just be in 1080i50 which most US players can't handle... I was pretty sure it was region free. But then if you say you've been able to play other BDs from 2Entertain (quite a few of which will be 1080i50), maybe it IS region locked...

2Entertain releases of BBC Natural History Unit blu-rays are usually 50Hz. One notable exception being Planet Earth, but "Life," "Mountain Gorilla," "Nature's Great Events," "South Pacific"and others are 50Hz. Drama releases like "Bleak House" and probably "Little Dorrit" are not 50Hz and work fine on R1 BD players.

I am going to try playing this on my Oppo BDP-83 which appears to have the ability to covert 50hz to 60hz. (I read this in a review. Is that correct?)

That player is in another location. When I can check this, I will post the results.

Oppo players can - I have the BDP-80 and have watched Life (another 50hz show) on it.

Seeing as this clip here is lifted directly from Human Planet on the UK BD release, my bet is that you guys will have Gillian Anderson narrating the whole series.
