I have the Denon AHD2000 and I have a question. I just got an extension cable (Grado) so I can view and listen to my movies at a good distance instead of close. The problem is, the Grado extension only has the big jack to plug in so it wouldn't work to plug it into the TV. Do I need to get a headphone amp? Does the headphone amp plug into the tv with audio cables?
Thank you for the help. |

You should be able to buy a 3.5mm Female to 2.5mm Male adapter quite easily almost anywhere.

Is the headphone output on your TV the big one or the little one? |

Well, I have both the little and big for the headphones. I can plug the headphones into the extension cable, but to plug the extension into the tv, I need the little one(which the extension has the big one). It just sounds like that would really screw up the sound or maybe it dont matter.

You could also just buy a short adapter, like John72953 suggested, to go between the extention and the TV. It will not affect the sound, but it almost sounds like you would be buying an adapter to fix the fact that you bought the wrong extention in the first place, which is kind of silly and complicated. I hope this makes sense, it sounds complicated, but it's really quite simple. There is no wrong way to do it; if you get it plugged in, it should work fine, but there is the simple way, or the complicated way! |

I wanted to buy a good extension cable so it doesn't dilute the sound. I feel if I buy a cheap extension cable, the sound will dilute.
Do you have any suggestions for the Denon headphones without breaking bank. The Grado costed me 39.99. Thank you all for your help. |

If you want to keep the extention cable you've got, the simplest thing to do would be to buy an adapter. You can probably get one at Radio Shack or Walmart for about $5. |

This is the one I have.
Description: Grado offers a 15 foot (450cm) extension cable terminated with a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) plug and a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) jack. This cable is constructed from the same high quality wire as their headphone cable. For longer lengths the cable may be piggybacked up to 3 cables. Grado guarantees no degradation of sonic quality with Grado headphones while using their extension cable. Specifications: 1/4" Headphone Extension Cable 15 foot |

Sorry, the 2.5mm is for cell phones. Most audio stuff now days is 3.5mm. The big "home style" plug is 6.3mm. So you need a 6.3mm(1/4 inch) female to 3.5mm(1/8 inch) male adapter:
